I actually laughed at this one. You are plenty clever enough for colorful similes! (!)

Oh yeah, just to clarify on Christopher Paolini. It's true that the first book is an easy read but I like it for that reason. Books 2 and 3 were a slog, sad to say, and I really hate to say this about any book but it felt like a waste of my time.

The last one was pretty good though.

Thats like asking, do you like chocolate?
Yes, but not all the time or in every circumstance.
If the plot is written well, I can certainly enjoy a story where the villain wins from time to time.
Especially when the villains and good guys aren't one-dimensional demons and paladins so to speak.

    Sometimes.

But if a story is crafty enough with it's characters, there won't be a clear-cut good or bad.

When every chapters end with a cheap clifhanger in order to keep the reader interrested. Hunger Games was a bit annoying for this.

This is only really seen in YA and children's literature because those groups often need the cliffhanger to prompt them to continue reading.

Goosebumps is notorious for its cliffhangers.

Aw dude, I LOVE cliffhangers. Forward momentum is a virtue!

Personally my preference is to have most chapters end with cliffhangers, with exceptions for moments where something really big was just resolved and the reader, like the characters, deserves a fleeting break.
