Either by personality, backstory, their journey/development...no need to justify it if you don't want to!

For me I remember younger when I was marathoning House MD episodes I related a lot to James Wilson.
Also a long, long time ago when I watched Supernatural it was Sam I really connected with. Even though I've stopped watching the show for ages now, I remember that quite clearly.

    How about all of you?

Elphaba from Wicked. And in certain ways, Galinda as well.

    They speak volumes to me.

J.D. from scrubs. For his sense of humor and his personality.

Charlie Kelmeckis from The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I was a lot like that character growing up.

Brian R. Johnson from the Breakfast club. I just saw a lot of me in that character.

Nathan from the show Misfits. I can't think of any others right now but I'm sure there's more.

Daryl from the walking dead... He's quite but a total bad ass, can survive on his own but prefers to be with people, willing to take risk ( I must be looking into a mirror)

Clay Jensen from the novel Thirteen Reasons Why. Born empath but he had a hard time showing just how much he cared until doing so (for Hannah) is already late.

Elphaba from Wicked without all the heterosexuality I see her as a character who has to keep up a facade of strength because if she shows weakness people will take advantage of it, and I feel like that often as well.

Loki. Not because I consider him some perfect asshole, but because his sadness resonates too much with mine.

    Charlie Bradbury from Supernatural.

I always related to Tony Stonem's thought processes in regards to entertaining myself from Skins.

For me, it's much the same. Loki was always an interesting, albeit twisted character.

Aside from him, I relate to:

    The Doctor (Doctor Who)
    Hamlet (Shakespeare)
    Sherlock Holmes, in most adaptations
Bruce Wayne/Batman, particularly in The Dark Knight Trilogy
The Mad Hatter from the books
Winston Smith from George Orwell's "1984"
Rin from Free! Iwatobi Swim Club
Ender from the "Ender's Game" series
Characters often featured in the works of author Franz Kafka (because I relate to the author)

Most of the characters I relate to, are ones which I admire (and thus hope to be like) or empathize with because of similar struggles. In essence, I see myself in them - it makes me sad most of the time but also gives me hope.

    I as well. Loki..... heheh.

I understand how he feels in terms of..... alienation. That's the term I always use. Alien. I feel like an alien. Can't act right, can't talk right, stares at their friends talking and laughing but somehow still feels completely alone. Another species.
