Ever listened to a song and felt like it had a really "trans-ish" feel to it? It can be intentional or unintentional. For me Reflection from Mulan is a pretty obvious one, but I also feel the same about The End by My Chemical Romance. I don't know if I'm alone on this one though. I can probably think of more but not on the top of my head right now.

....did the fact that you put miss missing you have to do with the fact that my signature is a quote from that song? thinking about it, it DOES feel trans-ish though.

Hmm, off the top of my head:

    Body by Mother Mother
My Body is a Cage by Arcade Fire

And The Crooked Kind by Radical Face can be interpreted as a person trying to run away from their identity and the LGBT community as a whole.

For trans women, Brittney Spears' song "I am not a girl, not yet a woman" unimtentionally connects so strongly with the experience of transitioning.

    Here's the lyrics:

I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman"

    I used to think
I had the answers to everything,
    But now I know
Life doesn't always go my way, yeah...
Feels like I'm caught in the middle
    That's when I realize...

    [Chorus:]
    I'm not a girl,
    Not yet a woman.
    All I need is time,
    A moment that is mine,
    While I'm in between.

    [Verse 2]
    I'm not a girl,
There is no need to protect me.
    It's time that I
Learn to face up to this on my own.
I've seen so much more than you know now,
So don't tell me to shut my eyes.

    [Chorus]

    I'm not a girl,
But if you look at me closely,
You will see it in my eyes.
    This girl will always find
    Her way.

    I'm not a girl
(I'm not a girl don't tell me what to believe).
    Not Yet a woman
(I'm just trying to find the woman in me, yeah).
All I need is time (All I need),
A moment that is mine (That is mine),
    While I'm in between.

    I'm not a girl
Not yet a woman (not now)
All I need is time (All I need),
    A moment that is mine,
    While I'm in between.

    I'm not a girl,
    Not yet a woman.

This just popped into my head, Let It Go for me feels really trans-ish. I know a lot of people over the age of 10 hate that song with a burning passion because of how much they hear it. But this song has a special meaning to me. The movie came out before I realized I was trans, and some of the lines really got me and now I know why. I'm gonna type all the lyrics and capitalize and bold the ones that hit me hard.
(and yes, i know most of you have heard this a gazillion times, but bear with me ok?)

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen.
    A kingdom of isolation,
and it looks like I'm the Queen
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
    Couldn't keep it in;
    Heaven knows I've tried

    Don't let them in,
    don't let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
    Conceal, don't feel,
    don't let them know

    Well now they know

Let it go, let it go
    Can't hold it back anymore

Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
    I don't care
    what they're going to say

    Let the storm rage on.
The cold never bothered me anyway

    It's funny how some distance
    Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can't get to me at all

It's time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me,
    I'm free!

Let it go, let it go
I am one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go
    You'll never see me cry
    Here I stand
    And here I'll stay
    Let the storm rage on

My power flurries through the air into the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around
And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back, the past is in the past

Let it go, let it go
And I'll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go
    That perfect girl is gone
    Here I stand
    In the light of day
    Let the storm rage on

The cold never bothered me anyway!

    (i underlined for more emphasis)

Some people are speculating that Let It Go actually WAS meant to represent the LGBT community. I don't know if that's true, but it actually DOES do a really good job of describing being in the closet.

A friend of mine brought this up a couple days ago and I'm wondering this myself; in the movie Inside Out, all of the emotions match the gender of their person EXCEPT for Riley, who has both male and female emotions. Why?

I haven't seen inside out yet so please don't spoil it for me, but Riley could be non-binary. Honestly if I were to sing a coming out song, let it go would be my top pick. "That perfect girl is gone" is the line that feels so relevant to me as a trans boy.

"Been a Son" by Nirvana could also be interpreted this way, I mean, half of the song is basically the phrase "She should have been a son" repeated over and over again

I've got a highly recommended song for you all, one which really hit me with they lyrics and (beautifully haunting) tune.

It's called So Far from the artist Olafur Arnalds. I've put the lyrics below and bolded the bits that reminded me of "trans feels."

So far from who I was
    From who I love
From who I want to be
So far from all our dreams
    From what love means
From you here next to me

    So far from seeing hope
    I stand out here alone
Am I asking for too much?
    So far from being free
    A past that's haunting me
    A future I just can't touch

And if you take my hand
Please pull me from the dark
    And show me hope again
    We'll run side by side
    No secrets left to hide
    Sheltered from the pain

I feel ashamed that the first song that came into my head was 'dude looks like a lady' by Aerosmith... And I feel even more ashamed that I can't think if another song.

I'm a Boy by The Who could be interpreted this way, even if it was not meant that way.

I was browsing through some trans/dysphoria playlists on 8tracks a few weeks ago, and Mother Mother (the artist/band) kept popping up.

You could definitely interpret some of their songs in a way that relates to gender and trans feelings/struggles/whatnot.
