I'm not close to either side--there are language barriers and distance involved.

I don't talk to anyone from either side actually. Never knew my Dad's side too well. If anything, I'm closer to my mom's side but that's not saying much when haven't really seen them in at least 15 years.

    Neither.

I've met both my biological grandmothers on one occasion respectively; maternal grandmother I was too young to remember, and paternal grandmother only slightly (I remember her giving me £5 which might have something to do with it!)

Also when young I met one uncle (or possibly more?) and cousins on father's side when he traced his birth family at some point. I also met his adoptive sister and her children when older.

On the phone I spoke to some individuals on mother's side a few times, like my grandfather and cousin, but owing to language barriers it was no more than a few words.

Way closer to my mom's, but I get along fine with my dad's side too.

By far, I'm closer to my dad's family.

My mom's side of the family is well-off and some of them are judgmental. Its just not my scene.

My dad's family is far more laid back.

Probably my dad's side if I had to choose, although I'm not really that close to either. I would say mostly my dad's side because they live nearby, all of them are in southern California, so I see them at family events and such. My mom's family is/was much friendlier and more fun though (they're Italian... my dad's side is English). I'd probably be closer with them if they lived nearby, but they all live in the eastern US, and besides my extended family, only my mom's brother and and his children are left on her side, and my mom isn't on the greatest terms with her brother lately. I'm fairly close with my gay uncle and his partner -- and that is my dad's brother.

Neither, though if I have to choose, it would be my mother's side of the family. But that isn't saying much.

My dads. My cousins from his side are the only family I'm out to. Plus, most of my mom's family is homophobic, so you can see why I'm not closer to them lol.

    Neither.

I only say that because my mom always had her family around and my mom's mom lived with my family during my formative years. That doesn't mean we got along. Being very religious was only half the story. While my dad's mom died when I was a little kid and his family never really visited us after that. So I don't know them well.

So I may know one side better than the other, but not really close to either.

Neither, my dads side are homophobic aholes. They turned their back on my uncle when he came out and cut him out of everyone's lives, haven't seen him since. My dad and I keep trying to find him to tell him we care and we don't agree with the rest of them but we are failing. And my mothers side are just plain evil, I sometimes think my mother was adopted as she is the kindest person I know.

Even though my mother's side of the family is pretty judgmental I'm still closer with them. I have very little to do with my father's side of the family. Plus they tend to be even more judgmental than my other family members too.

I've never met my dad or his side of the family. My parents divorced shortly after I was born. From hearing the stories about his side of the family I am glad that I do not know him/them.

I'm closer to my dads side because since most of them live here in Portugal as well , we can get together more easily and have a better connection with each other... Most of my moms side of the family lives in Angola so I never had a chance to meet them and that's why we are not so close.

Definitely my dad's side, but only because of the sheer differences between my parents' families.. My mother has her sister, her mother and her step father in her immediate family, her sister has 5 kids, 3 of which are in the custody of their father, and 2 of which are held at figurative gunpoint as leverage to get stuff because she is a horrible evil person.

My fathers side has his mother, her 5 kids (including him) Each of his siblings has at least one kid, one has 5, one has 4, one has 2, and the last one has 1, most of which are grown enough to be interesting people.

Also on my father's side he has 4 half siblings who are all in their 50's and nobody knows much about them in my immediate family apart from maybe one or two.

So in short, my father's side due to sheer volume and the way they like to huddle in the same general area.
