I guess I can understand the part where she doesn't want to go against her religion. That's her choice. But the fact that she was and still isn't doing her job - a government job - is problematic obviously. She's been working there a long time, but I think going forward, people who are hired/elected for those types of positions need to agree beforehand that they will issue marriage licenses to everyone. They should have to sign a contract going into it so that if they aren't doing their job they can be fired. I guess that's just one part of our government that needs to catch up to same-sex marriage being legal and I hope this doesn't become another step back if they allow her to continue her job in this manner. It's not fair to anyone else. If you can't handle giving marriage licenses to same sex couples then you shouldn't be given that job in the first place.

Probably. She has stated that it's her intention to block same-sex marriages when she gets out.

Being released after only 3 days is extremely light, especially considering that many now hail her as a hero for denying rights to the people who pay for her salary.

I have a feeling that the reason the judge decided to order her release was because a lot of bigot's supporters protested outside of the judge's house. That's not a good precedent to set.

One good thing that may come out of this is that it may hurt the GOP, since some Republicans, such as Huckabee are openly supporting her.

I hope she gets back to jail. She blocked her deputy clerks from issuing licenses. This goes beyond religious freedom. If she does the same and defies the court order, then I don't know what she expects. She's treating her release as a "victory".

Anyways, I don't want to rant. Here's a funny meme.

Am I the only one finding her very short trip to the big house to be pretty damning evidence that religious persecution does not exist in the United States?

That meme display more culturual sensitivity and respect for other religions than I would expect from the kind of people the meme is portraying.

    Hmmm...

No straight secure in their sexuality cares about others sexuality...

Ms Davis is a homophobe, and married 4 times...

Ladies are we looking at a closeted, struggling, lesbian?

Nope. You're not the only one. He was supposed to review his decision in seven days, and instead she is out in five. She also didn't agree that she wouldn't block future marriages, and continues to insist that the marriages done by the deputy clerks are invalid without her signature.

So, basically, all that has happened is that everyone who was trying to get a marriage license got one via the deputy clerks, and once that happened she was let out of jail. ...and he let her out just in time so she didn't miss the rally being held outside, allowing her to take a victory lap and speak to the crowd.

Welp, I guess the big picture view is that people are now able to get their marriage license without her signature now? I don't think it matters much that she is in jail or not. Just that she is no longer in power to prevent people to get married.

Honestly, I don't think she should be in jail or be sent back if she continues to block licenses. Just fucking. fire her. If you refuse to do your job, you get fired, its as simple as that.

She cannot be fired. She's an elected official, not an employee of the state. She would have to be impeached, but the state legislature is very unlikely to do so and isn't in session, anyway.

Got news, but can't link on mobile. The Oathkeepers have deployed armed militia to the county and vowed not to allow federal marshals to take Kim Davis back to jail. Implied but not stated threat that things could possibly turn violent, but I hold out hope that the Oathkeepers aren't that stupid, or at least not that brave.

Christian persecution, at least. I don't know how but the "Fox news Christians" feel they're the most oppressed group in the country if they can't oppress somebody else. Sort of like a preschool bully.

The whole "holier than thou" attitude from idiots like Kim Davis here really ticks me off. I'd call it brainwashing, but that would imply cleanliness of some sort. More like "Inserting the brain into a bag of monkey shit and shaking it up"
