    I've never watched anime or anything before, but I read the summary and it looks interesting. Is Death Note worth watching?

    I was freaking obsessed with it. I watched the whole season in 2 days, and didn't stop...well only for bathroom breaks. It's really really really really really really really good! You'll fall in love with characters, and ship characters and the whole bit. I loved it so much, and it can be very dark at times.

    WARNING: It's very gruesome and very dark, but it's still really good.

    To be honest, it's not one of my favorites, and is the only anome so far I have seen that I need to get round to finishing, even hough I started it about 8 months ago. I don't know why I just got... Bored of it...

    The first half is excellent, the second half is just alright. Barely. The anime loses a lot of steam due to a certain development halfway through.

    I was really into it when I was younger just starting to watch it. You'll like it if you like crime investigation & mystery. Worth a try. :slight_smile:

    This.

    It's worth checking out, especially due to the whole moral conflict angle. Then again, I liked watching "Kira" descend into a power-hungry insanity.

    It's definitely a fun show to watch. Honestly, I was introduced to it officially through the live-action movie. From what I'm gathering, I'm guessing that was a better way of seeing it.

    I love it, the characters are good, the music kicks ass, it has this dark and gothic atmosphere that's lovely if you like that sort of thing, and most importantly the story is engaging and suspenseful and wonderfully tragic. Death Note is one of 2 animes I've seen where I was emotionally invested enough to almost shed a tear, and there are 2 particular scenes in the show which nearly accomplished this.

    Heck yes. Watch it, it's brilliant.

    As far as show quality progression:
    Beginning = Amazing
    Middle = Doubleplusgood freaking awesome
    End = Drops a few notches (insert sad, frustrated face) but is still good and satisfactory

    It's one of the better ones for sure. You could probably make a pretty good case for it being one of the best.

    I haven't watched the anime yet, but am reading the manga, and thoroughly enjoying it. Interesting concept and characters.

    I haven't seen the anime (although I love the band that does the opening/ending themes, Nightmare). I did read the manga when it first came out and it is one of my favourites! I'm rereading it now and I still get so into it.

    I highly recommend Death Note.

    While some would argue otherwise, I think the ending of the Anime is much better than the ending of the manga.

    I concur with both of you... For me a lot of it felt like the story just dragged on after the first half and the introduction of certain characters felt like a lazy way to continue and was rather disappointing since the show had potential... But it's worth a look if nothing else. It's definitely overrated as some take it as some sort of anime opus when really it's just okay. Much like with SAO and Code Geass I say: watch the first half... And pretend that's the whole series... Trust me, you'll be saving yourself some serious disappointment. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: bug it's ultimately up to you so enjoy!

    I really enjoyed the whole anime. I can see why some didn't enjoy the second half, but I still liked it. Definitely an anime worth watching. It's one of my favorites.

    A lot of people didn't like the second half but I think it's just as good as a first half. Without spoilers, there's a definite air of emptiness and despair around the second half which I could see maybe turning some away from it but this hopless, depressing atmosphere is what I love about the second part. The ending is wonderful and beautiful and I'm not sure why someone would have a problem with it unless they missed the point of the whole story. I do agree there's some missed potential with N and M (and christ don't even get me started on Matt) but other than that there's only one main thing I can see people disliking part 2 for and all I have to say about those people is that they're blind fangirls/boys who probably don't understand Death Note and just watched it for one character.
