What am I missing being new to T Community

After watching the second episode of I Am Cait, i really loved how the show included all those opinions and truths of the T Community in its diversity whole even if it made her look like the uninformed, bad, rich, white person.
They really did hit the nail when they said that Cait only looked at the positive lifestyle of being female and being new to the community; she relatively knows next to nothing about transgenders that struggle and she has to represent this community.
What I've realized though through that episode is yeah, maybe I don't realize the whole entirety of transgender life struggle, the stats about T women having to lean to sex work for transition astonished me greatly.
I'm certain everyone would want to stay away from that area. I am also fairly young and new to the T community and struggle so now i'm started to feel like Cait, (except the fact of not being rich or famous) not knowing the entire transgender story.
I can only say I sort of have an understanding of people of color, being unemployed and homeless, transition expenses, staying closeted, and hostility towards gender transitioning people. Though its probably limited since I'm fairly fresh into the lgbT community.
Well I guess the only thing that I could know about being T would be the emotional experience that everyone faces, I have yet to experience the public experience, hard decisions, and hostility of being out.

So what the question would be is, What do you guys think that I might be missing, like how Caitlyn is missing the socio/economic side of being transgender because of her privilege, is there more difficulties in the world that Transgenders face that I don't realize yet.

I wish I knew more about transitioning in the economical/public way instead of just the whole "do I pass or not" aspect.

Also just to add on, I was thinking maybe me joining a trans support group would enlighten me more to the expenses/costs to transitioning. Do you think I would be ok if I didn't go to any support groups like that and did research online? (got any good blogs about transition in general?)

    Oh sweet Jesus.

I've "been in" the trans community for 3ish years and...

I have no idea, frankly. I feel like I learn more all the time- and I feel that's the way it usually is. Don't listen to divas who want to start trouble and pick on you for not knowing things- frankly I don't know why people do that to begin with.
Make sure you surround yourself with respectful, friendly, inviting, approachable people. And even aside from transpeople, there are a ton of allies and LGB peeps who know a lot about trans news as well! They might have a lot of friends, or have family members who are a part of the community, and will be able to give an outside point of view as well.

A lot of T men go into sex work as well. Maybe I'm more aware of it now because of realizing I am trans, but I've noticed a lot of t men (and women) who become strippers, escorts, street people (late night and lacknof spelling to get real work but I hope you know what I mean, and other such things. This actually scares the hell out of me. Mostly they get into that line of work because no one will higher then

Reviving to get some more words on the matter.
I'm not self conscious of little that I know, i just feel gaining more knowledge would help me explain more to why the community is in the great struggle that we are in.

It really does suck, I haven't been able to get work for 5 years. I've been applying on and off for that long so...
