    Fair enough.

I dunno what stereotype or character really fits me. I'm pretty all over the place.

Who knows...you may or may not have some hope there.

I can definitely understand the caution either way. You have good reason at that. My fam is pretty much notorious for acting like their views on things have changed, only to go back to their backwards shit right after...it's why I roll my eyes whenever I see the former happening; I know them too well to buy any of it. I never found out about my dad's stance on it all though...that was long before I 'knew of anything myself'.

And I can relate to the not seeing gay couples either. I've only ever seen like one or two ever personally. :-l

I have a friend who is in his 70's. He and his wife go on a cruise every winter. For the most part the same people from all over go on the cruise. They've become Cruise Buddies. One of the Couples is a Gay couple.

My friend talks about them as if they are, which they are just another couple.

It's amazing how times have changed. Years ago you'd never here these stories. Today it's so accepted to be Gay.

That's the odd thing, I found out 3 of my other friends were bi if not openly in two cases when I came out. Ok I have other friends who are open about being gay or bi. In the other case it just never came up with her as she's married to a bloke, apparently they are both very bi though and were previously further towards the gay end of the spectrum. It's just that out of the blue they found each other and don't make a song and dance about it.

So yes they are out there, the problem is they are keeping quiet about it

Because of this, I am thankful that I was born in this time period. When I was reading about LGBT history, I learned about all the awful things that happened to people if they were gay. It broke my heart hearing about such terrible things. But, you are right. Times have changed a lot.

We're definitely much better off than we would've been a few decades ago.

Being in my early 50'stages I can attest to the fact that it is a much better time than ever to be Gay.

I wouldn't know from experience, but from what I've read and heard from others, I'd have to say it just about has to be ^^

I just think it's sad that you had to wait so long for you to be yourself. :frowning2:

Must be nice to somehow notice the apparent change...outside of all this marriage stuff, I don't personally see much of it.

I see gay and lesbian couples in my school occasionally, but I never see one in public.

    ---------- Post added 3rd Aug 2015 at 08:52 PM ----------

So am I. I'm thankful that there were so many brave and amazing people in history that have decided to stand up for LGBT rights, and all rights in general.

Well my understanding is that things like "Fag drags" are a lot less common these days, we don't need a riot to be noticed at this point, it is no longer political suicide to be in support of the LGBT community.

Sure things suck in so many ways still, but it doesn't hurt to remember that we've made progress

Progress, yes, but in very minor areas(marriage is the least of troubles, yet somehow maintained a prolonged spotlight over bigger issues).

I'm already seeing a growing number of people who think that marriage stuff in the US somehow signals world peace, in regards to being lgbt, or something. Sad, sad sight, unfortunately.
