A topic discussed many times by my sister and I.

My sister says she prefers reading digital books because it's much more convenient; it's right there on your phone/tablet, and you get instant access to what you want to read at the touch of a button.

I prefer print. There's nothing like the wonderful feeling of turning a page, or exploring a bookstore. It's something you really can't replicate.

How do you read? Are you more of a modern type that prefers to read on a tablet or phone, or are you more old-fashioned and into physical copies like I am?

I prefer print for books that I've been waiting to get for a while, and sometimes just to add to a collection of the series, but then again digital is also a lot more convenient for me in my opinion. Being able to read in the dark is a big one, and plus it doesn't take up any physical space.

    I guess I can't choose. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I prefer physical books, there's just something about turning those pages, smelling the paper and feeling the pages between my fingers that draws me into a world. I'll admit that I have a digital version of a book or two but they are typically books from story lines that I'm already invested in. Nothing beats some good music, something cool to drink and a good book in my hands.

There's something so... awesome about flipping a page of a book. The smell of old paper, the anticipation you feel... Sorry, I'm a bibliophile. o~o (That term means I REALLY love books... right?)

Convenience goes to e-books. Amazingness goes to physical copies.

Sadly I use digital books more often, but it's always nice when I can get my hands on the real deal.

I actually feel I learn better from books, especially textbooks. Nothing beats writing on the margins and making notes. Plus, I think there's something about print that helps one learn better, at least for me.

I prefer physical books, but I usually read digital books. They ARE more convenient, but I love the feeling of turning a page in a physical, printed book.

Both have advantages and disadvantages. And I don't see it being either/or.

That said... I voted for paper books. No expensive gadget to buy to read a book. I spend enough time staring at computer screens as it is. I happen to like old books, too. Books can be bought/sold/given used. And paper books could potentially last and preserve our knowledge if we enter another Dark Ages.

That said, there are some advantages to e-books: convenience, and a lot easier to move your library when you move. And availability of some titles might be better--it's so cheap producing e-books that books that won't sell in large numbers might have a better chance of being published.

I absolutely love the feel of paper between my fingers, but I don't like to think of all the little tree babies taken away from their tree villages so I can read a book. I would rather help the environment out as much as I can, it needs it.

Fuck books. I'll wait 'til the movie comes out.

    But seriously, print.

I think that's it much more comfortable to read physical books. When I'm reading digital, I usually have to position myself someway so that I'm not holding it up the whole time, especially when I'm charging whatever I'm reading on.

I like physical books. It doesn't hurt my eyes, and I enjoy the feeling of the pages on the left side building up as I progress further into the book!

I remember one person (IIRC) connected to a college library commenting about the replacement of books by digital technology many years ago. Yes, computers have become a huge influence. But it would handy to print stuff on paper. And it would be handy to have something holding all those sheets of paper together. And so we'd have the revolutionary device invented: Bound Output of Knowledge. Or BOOK for short.

It's actually shown that people who read tangible books grasp information better than those that read digital. I'll always prefer physical books.

Physical books. No contest. I can't use the internet in my room, so that probably factors into this. However, I do order books online.

It is quicker to go to where you want in a normal physical book than in a normal e book where you just slide the bar.
    Physical books are more convenient.
E books reduce carbon emissions, and paper cuts.
    E books are better overall.

In my physical Bible, I can go to anywhere in under 15 seconds (usually 10), in my Bible app, it takes at least 20 seconds, sometimes 30.

It is worse to loose an e book than a physical book.

E books do not hurt as much when dropped on your head from a locker...
