Every. Time. Every goddamn time people try and organize these things, this is the result. There's a reason why there's no such thing as this.
From a post by someone on an old thread called - "Straight Pride. Offensive?" I agree with the above quote^^^ ....On a whole different perspective...what if someone is pressuring this man or treating him badly because he is straight? If that is the case I would support this march 100%(as long as he is not bashing the LGBT community)
I've never heard of someone having a hard time because they're straight. Ever. Was that sarcasm? Makes me imagine these flaming dudes in rainbow suits slamming this dude against a wall and belittling him for his straightness. Maybe offering to hook him up with a nice guy.
I think the problem is that he was. The article had a quote from his blog. I think straight pride parades are generally just misguided, but this guy seems genuinely hateful. For some reason that makes me feel even more sorry for him.
Ok....yeah.....then that's not straight pride...that's just like .....looking for the right word....I think "misguided", like you said is probably the best word for it ---------- Post added 31st Jul 2015 at 09:37 AM ---------- Probably more satire than sarcasm.... From wiki "Although satire is usually meant to be humorous, its greater purpose is often constructive social criticism, using thoughts to draw attention to both particular and wider issues in society"
LOL what a fool .. but I guess you gotta give him credit for following through with his one-man parade  --------- Well, he is walking the rainbow, guess that's a start  ... I wonder if they only paint the streets like that for gay pride, or if they always keep it like that ??
It's a hilarious thing that completely missed the point, but why not, I guess? Is being straight for some people that distressing that they're being disowned by their families, being told by their religion they can't get married (or worse, should be killed), and stared at for holding hands with the opposite sex in public? To slightly shift gears, I just finished watching a documentary about the subhuman treatment of gay people in Russia (1% of gay people are actually out!) and reading this thread just makes me shake my head. I don't want to stop someone else from having their own pride thing too, but again, the organizer of straight pride so doesn't "get it."
