Simply put, what are your favorite movies about gay relationships (especially male)? And I do not mean porn. But rather a genuinely well done love story.

I remember hearing about a film called Weekend. Haven't watched it, but it got great reviews. Looking forward to watching it at some point, though.

I can't edit the above post now, but there was an anime I watched called "Love Stage!!" which-- yes, it had fanservice and weird moments, but for the most part it was really nice and worth the watch. I think. I can't remember it too well, I might have to rewatch it myself.

I really liked The normal heart, even though it was pretty sad and wasn't really centered in a love story. I also enjoyed this German movie called Free fall and a Colombian one called Undertow.

It's kind of cheesy and plays like a yaoi manga but my recent favorite is Schoolboy Crush. In high school during my indie movie only phase I remember watching a movie called Wild Tigers I Have Known that I loved so much I ended up buying and freaking my then homophobic mom out, ha.

Prayers for Bobby... It's a sad story, it is... very sad... It's one of these movies that make you wish that you weren't gay, never have to come out to parents or didn't exist at all while at the same time give you that nudge and telling you to you should be nice to other gay people out there even if you aren't to yourself. At least that's the impact it's had on me.

Make the Yuletide Gay... It's a story about a gay guy coming out to his family on Christmas. It's a heartwarmer... but don't watch it if you don't believe in your own happiness. I just watched this yesterday night before went to bed and slept in my own puddle of tears.

My top 3 is Shelter, Weekend and Beautiful Thing.

    Absolutely!

The acting was rather bad, but the story was very touching. I cried my eyes out while watching this movie.

Thank you so much for this list. I was surprised how many there were on there that I have not seen. I think of myself as sort of a gay film buff (despite not being a big movie guy) and I hadn't even quite seen half of these. Time to update my Netflix queue.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Brokeback Mountain. It is heartbreaking though. Then there's Bent. It's the most dark movie I've ever seen, so I wouldn't recommend it to people who are lightweights when it comes to entertainment.
