Tonight I went out with my nephew and a friend of his for dinner. I've known this kid since he was 5. He's now 21. This kid is part of the family. We've been away together. This kid is like a nephew. Over the years I've been a little on edge at times. Tonight before dinner I told him I was Gay. Now keep in mind all we do as a group is bust balls. He looks right at me and says "all these years we always thought you had something stuck up your ass, guess it was because there was nothing stuck up your ass". I've never laughed so hard since Coming Out. It was perfect. Just what I hoped it would be.
Great story. What I love about it is that he was comfortable enough to say exactly what he was thinking and what he would have said pre-coming out. Your sexuality changes nothing for him!
Quick! Someone make that a Hallmark card! But seriously... imagine if there was a "Coming Out Humor" section. Wouldn't be a bad idea to break the ice.
I hope I get the credit for the card. It will be a big seller. A humor section would be great. Coming Out is such a life changing event we should enjoy and have fun with it.
My friends making jokes is actually probably my favorite part of being out. It was one of the things I looked forward to when I was planning to tell them.. Just that easy light atmosphere mean the world to me. I think one that got the biggest laugh was a few days after I came out - I was group-texting with a bunch of friends, and one of them goes "BI the way..." - it' since been repeated many times. another good one - "Like a windshield wiper, you swing both ways."
My mom teased me sometimes when we watched TV. She would say, "You think he's hot," just to mess with me. Now that she knows I'm bisexual, she's says the same thing for every person that flashes on the screen. UGH. :eusa_doh:
