You ask why, so I'll give a simple answer.

Usually obsessiveness over resources is either due to survival (pretty essential to humans) or greed (a very common human trait.) Sometimes both. You don't have to think too hard or too long about human nature to realize we're not breaking that habit anytime soon.

Religion develops as a way for humans to "make sense" of the world and live their lives in accordance with some sort of guiding idea. Most people want some sort of direction even if they have no way of utterly verifying that direction for themselves. It's the same reason that many people feel safe and correct with a more widely accepted scientific worldview, even if they don't fact-check themselves. It's all about feeling enlightened, being a member of a community that thinks the way you do and agrees on a commonly held truth. This is the basic religious mindset, and even if all "religions" as we know them today die out and all of humanity moves on, that religious mindset is here to stay.

Sports talk... I may be a guy but that doesn't mean I'm all into talking about sports 24/7... Watching sports and talking sports is boring as crap.

PLAYING sports is a whole 'nother story...

These might even be said to cross the line from boredom to torture!

Having to listen to someone who doesn't know what they're talking about.

    Waiting in line.

Sitting in front of a computer all day -_-

    Sports and politics.

Now if Quidditch were an actual sport, I'd be all over that.

    Almost all slow/relaxed music.
Traffic jams. I listen to music.
Watching most sports. I change the channel.
Waiting rooms. I read a book.
When people show you pictures of their family.

Non-fiction books with excessive dramatic commentary about torture/execution techniques. I'd be as well saying non-fiction books with more style than substance.

People that do whatever you want, are only interested in what you're interested in, lie about enjoying things you can tell they hate, and have no real sense of self.

Sometimes I joke that I'm bored with a film, if it's been over 10 minutes since we've seen some deaths/fights. But I think I mostly say that because people that know me kind of expect me to say it and it makes them laugh.

    The summer.

I literally have nothing to do during the summer. Everyone is busy, I can't stand the heat, there's no snow, I never manage to get a job ect. I hate summer because after one month of it, I already want school to start again.

Nothing. There are some things I may like a little less, but, boredom isn't something I experience. Having diverse interests, loving to learn & being open to people & ideas, I can always find something to spark my intellect.

Romantic comedy movies. They're all just the same thing over and over again and I don't see what the fuss is all about. I usually just want to shoot myself in the head to end my misery when I'm forced to watch one.

Visiting art galleries is pretty boring. I had a look around the Leeds Art Gallery last year and I found the entire experience very underwhelming. I wasn't too impressed with the National Art Gallery in London either. Maybe I'm just a philistine.

Amen to that. I switch off when people start talking about ram (I'm not really clear on what that is).

    -Sermons/Homilies
-Speeches unless the content is something I'm interested in then I can kind of fight the boredom
-I get bored in classes easily if I have nothing to do.
-Boring movies they play during class e.g. science. I have fallen asleep during one of these.
-Nora Roberts novels....actually, the romance genre in general. :/
-Being around people. It happens occasionally and just means I need to spend some time alone so I can recharge my social batteries.
