Are gay guys shallow?

Everyone can be shallow

 

Not any more shallow than straight guys. If you've ever met straight guys, you'd know what I'm talking about.

Don't really see the point in the generalization. Of course not all gay guys are shallow and of course some are. That's not exactly mind-blowing information.

Exactly. I don't think straight guys are stereotyped any more generously. They're percieved and portrayed to be just as shallow as the gay ones, it's just expressed in a way that society is so familiar with we're just kind of resigned to it and don't even really take notice anymore.

 

Hmm, I can't help thinking this thread is a social experiment. Imagine walking to a group of people and ask them: "hey, are you shallow?" The responses should be interesting.

I do believe some stereotypes exist for a reason, and in my personal experience other gay guys have been pretty self obsessed and sex driven. Of course, you can't generalise such a large group of people, but for some I do believe it's at least partially true. Then again to a degree, all people are shallow.

But yes. As you say, all people have their shallow moments. If it's any encouragement to anyone, though, I've found that depth is gained with age. I'm still in my 20s, but I've noticed a shift among my peers. Give some of these shallow folk time to get a few years behind em (of course some can't be saved ).

And many people are saying they don't think so; it doesn't mean they're angry. That's part of posting a thread: answers that disagree with your presuppositions.

 

Solitaire, noting your age, I do think that's a big part of what's shaped your experiences as well. Younger people are often shallow purely because they just have less experience to go on. Give it some time and don't despair!

One time I met this guy online on a gay chat site and was all "Dude, I win." and I was confused as hell as to what he won and he was like "Dude, I win because I'm better looking than you" and I don't know whether to laugh or to feel bad for him.

Like everything, there are some who are and some who are not.

In my own experience, I feel gay men have a higher chance at being shallow. I know I am in my own way when it comes to other gay men. At least I'm honest about it, though.

 

Yeah, gay guys are very shallow.

Hell, where I live, it's almost a unanimous thing. 97%+ of them are shallow a-wipes, hence why I have almost a...disdain for the 'community'. Without a site like this, I probably would hate the gay 'community'.
