I'm doing a lyrical dance, and I need ideas. I want the number to have an impact on the audience and deliver a message. I also want to die at the end of it. Sorry, kind of depressing, I know. But it would be good for my acting and my dancing, and I want something unique and different. So I need ideas on the song, and the plot. Thanks! (Also, we can use props, but have to easily take them on and off of the floor)
What is the preferred genre? When I saw this thread I thought of the song Jeremy by Pearl Jam (I was listening to it a bit ago) it's a grunge song about a boy who committed suicide in front of his classmates and what may of been going through his mind in the years leading up to it. It wouldn't really work for your purposes but is it the kind of story progression you're looking for?
Basically, yeah. I don't really know what genre, probably preferably something without words, and a pretty song. It doesn't even need to be about anything in particular, that's where imagination comes in. Like, something that starts out with a happy tune and gets sad and dramatic. Examples of types of plot lines are car crash, disease, suicide, mental illness, going crazy, or something of that sort. It also needs to be kid appropriate.
OK idk if it would fit but "Blue bird lamentation" sounds like it. (It's from a game but give it a listen)
1963 by new order completely matches what you're looking for.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SofZHE0jBRI
I'm not quite sure my suggests will be what you are looking for, but 'My December' and 'Not Alone' by Linkin Park are two rather dramatic/emotional songs that I enjoy.
No, it's not a contradiction. I mean, you can dance to anything really. The type of dance I'm doing is just lyrical. And the song, I'd prefer, has no words.
