I'm not sure if I'm a feminist or not. I do think women are better than men in most cases; does that mean I'm one?

I am a feminist. A pity the term has " a man hater " label attached to it these days. I guess I will call myself an equalist from now on!

    I am one.

I don't like what the earlier waves did, those man haters, but if we had not had them, then we would still be getting paid less than men for the same exact jobs.

    Wait a minute...............

No it does not. Feminism is a movement to end sexist oppression. It's not a movement that affirms the essential superiority of women.

Men and women are not superior to the other.
They are different from each other.
I used to think they were more the same, but they are in fact different from each other.

I don't think that feminism has much in the way of strides to achieve when we will most likely have a woman candidate for President of the U.S. and when about half the people going into med school are women. So, I'm in agreement with you, and, as a man, am not allied with the current feminist movement. However, vigilance needs to be exercised to make sure gains won't erode and, at the same time, strides which encroach on the basic rights and dignity of men don't occur, either.

She's being sarcastic. She's referring to earlier feminists as "man-haters", then saying that we would still be paid less than men for the same work. We are still being paid less for the same work, which is what the "wait a minute..." implies.

Thanks for explaining. I have that type of humor. :icon_bigg

But yes, I am a Feminist. So are my girls and my son, so I did quite well on that front. My oldest is 23 and quite vocal about those that say they are, and then put down males. She gets herself into many debates regarding what feminists are actually vs. what society in general perceives what we are.

I am. I don't hate men, but I do resent them somewhat. I know that men and women are somewhat different. I just hate being treated differently because of my gender. I wish everyone could just be treated the same despite their differences.

I'm a feminist. I believe in equality and it is true that men have more societal benefits than women. Also, I think that men have problems similar sometimes, as to being less emotional. I believe in gender equality, and call myself a feminist.
In no way am I a man-hater or anything. I'm not entirely lesbian, so I like men too, just less than women.
There are always extremists, and not everyone is one of them

    I'm a feminist.

I've only really ever met one person who appears to be the stereotypical man-hating bra-burning feminist. Feminists can be as stereotyped just as any other group.

''the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.''

I believe in equal rights for women but would not class myself as a Feminist.

    Oh yes I am.

I have a special talent to ruin everything fun when I point out the feminist point of view :--D
