I went to my first Pride this weekend in Kansas City at the age of 52. I had a blast! We only stayed a few hours but I think the thought of being with so many of my people was the best feeling! KC, Missouri, even lit up the nearby Bond bridge in rainbow colors. I wish I had pics! If you have a chance to go to a Pride event, do it. Fun! Exciting! Meaningful! (!)

I've been to PrideFest multiple times, and actually look forward to it each year :sunglasses:

But I must say there's something special about that first time of going to PrideFest.

I'll be going to my Pride in July. Last year I went to a "Bear Weekend" at a gay campsite instead of marching with my brothers in the RGMC. This year I'm going. I'm rather excited.

I find it rather sad to hear some LGBT people scoff at Pride events because they really are great fun and show our the strength and diversity of our community. It's a carnival atmosphere and it's intended to be fun and colourful. Admittedly, I haven't been to one for quite some time, but that's more to do with my diary than a lack of will. If you are going to one this year have a great time.

Here is the Bond Bridge all lit up.

I had been wanting to go to a Pride event for quite some time, long before I came out, except when I was in fundy mode, then I wanted to protest such hedonistic decadence.
