Okay so today is national doughnut day. Even though technically both are "correct" (I don't see how), I don't know why but it really bugs me when people spell doughnut "donut". Especially since the only reason spelling it that way is popular is because of Dunkin' Donuts.

Me: Spell Dough like "pizza dough"
    person: d o u g h
me Okay now spell nuts like "I am not a big fan of nuts"
    person n u t s
me spell do like "I do not want to hang out with you"
    person d o
    me okay now spell doughnuts
    person donuts

Oh and another one. People who call the iPod touch "iTouch". Stop it! You just sound like a pervert. can iTouch you? Last one: "with iPhone 6" in adverts. No! It's "with the iPhone 6".

What grammar/spelling/pronunciation mistakes bother you? I cannot be the only one.

Wait... that isn't how you spell donuts?

    What?

    ... Oh my God.

My life was a lie. All my life was a lie.

This may seem familiar (because it was on Austin and Ally, a program I now despise), but I really hate it when people pronounce 'library' as 'libeary'.

Oh my gosh. Someone get a dictionary.

Oh, and have you heard about the anime Tokyo Ghoul?

Everyone here pronounces it "Tokyo Gahwull".

    SMH.

People leaving out "der die das " articles in front of words.I don't really care if someone doesn't use it or uses it wrongly if they don't know better but it bothers me if high German native speakers copy it to be cool-.- .

I mean companies have standardized the word donut so much that it's technically acceptable even though it shouldn't be. doughnuts are called that partly because it's fried dough. It's pizza dough not pizza do.

Most grammar and spelling errors don't bother me much, and I find "Grammar Nazis" more intolerable than the "Grammar Jews" they persecute, but there's something about "could of" that literally drives me up a wall. If you actually write out "could of been better", you're an idiot. Case closed.

I could of, but then I would of been selling out

Another one that bugs me a bit is a pronunciation error rather than a spelling or grammar one. Look at the word "poinsettia". Say it. Then look at how it's spelled. You might be amazed.

    E.g. vs i.e.

There is a significant difference in how something can be interpreted.

A lot of things bother me when it pertains to grammar errors

Wrong or lack of a verb:
    She ugly
    You be like dis

People pronouncing abbreviations in real life
Lel, lol, lul....pronounced like that, instead of laughing
Lmao "el em ay oh" or even worse "luh-Mao"

    Typing abbreviations
    Ily and hbd
    I love you, happy birthday.
This to me, shows lack of caring. You can't spend five more seconds to type more than three letters for someone you apparently care about?
If someone texts me like that, I will ignore them. (Not that anyone does text me (;-_-) )
    And bae.
Dear future partner, never call me bae.

    Also, these errors:
    Your beautiful
You're purse is at my house

U could of done this for meh! Fml.
(My Italian teacher thought fml stood for formal. She wrote "have fun at fml" on the board)

    Okay, long rant over.

Don't need to tell nothing to nobody!

I really get confused with the use of multiple negatives. I take time to really ponder how to digest what it really means.....

Also, the would of / could of / should of......

It "sounds" right if you have a certain accent. But in my case, I kind of make everything really phonetic so it sounds different to me.

I hate it when people say "go over her house" instead of "go over TO her house." also when people use "less" instead of "fewer" like saying "less people" *shivers* I am a bit of a grammar nazi, though. I mean, most grammar related things bother me (except who and whom because I even mess that up sometimes) but those two are the worst...

Ah but let's not forget how stupid our language is, in all its multi-origin glory. In my opinion, basically all -ough and -ought words are simply out-dated (spelling-wise)

    ... But I like that.

It's neither grammar nor spelling, but I really hate it when people say "strength" as "shtrength". Just please... No! I suspect that it comes from somewhere in the U.S., as where I live has a frequency of about 25% (guessing), while it seems much more prevalent in the deep south.
