I'm a big Johnlock shipper. I mean, I wasn't when I read the books in school. But I began to watch The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (the Granada version with Jeremy Brett) and I began to ship it. Solidified with BBC's Sherlock. Otherwise, Myka/HG from Warehouse 13. And I was a huge Caskett shipper at the start of Castle, and actually got that ship Then there's Rose/Doctor. Hannigraham. I could go all day. I'm a chronic shipper. It's a problem. I need help.
I don't get the point of shipping, you're getting invested in a romantic relationship between 2 characters that isnt even canon? I'd rather just look at porn or yaoi
It's the character dynamics. It doesn't have to be romantic, it could be platonic. There's a reason shows have that "locked/trapped in a room/freezer/attic" episode, to allow characters, who otherwise really wouldn't interact, to work off of each other. I'm also a sucker for teamwork, especially if said team is really into one another. This is why I like Shikamaru x Temari from Naruto. It helps they're canon. I like couples who teach one another something, which is at the basis of the Vegeta x Bulma relationship from Dragon Ball Z. Also, it's amusing to see Vegeta come around and, for once, actually care about something other than himself. Bulma won't tolerate his Prince of all Saiyajins nonsense either. This is also canon. Then there's providing something to each other. The main reason I like Azula x Ty Lee is, Ty Lee is the closest thing to a friend Azula has, and it's obvious throughout the series, Ty Lee is the only one Azula seems to genuinely care for/about. Ty Lee provides trust and support to Azula, while Azula provides structure and security to Ty Lee. There's also the theory, if Azula didn't have the upbringing she did, that she would have been more emotionally stable and happier. Ty Lee came the closest to getting that out of her, and considering Azula, that is impressive. This one isn't officially canon, but considering Azula's voice actress ships this, it's a honorary sort of canon.
I guess it's whimsy. Pornography doesn't serve the same purpose that shipping does, at all. I'm not sexually invested in the characters. I just think they'd go well together, and hope for it to happen because I think they'd be happy together. I like the characters in the show, and get attached to their personalities. I want them to wind up happy! Then again, I'm not one of those shippers really into the... M-rated aspect. It's just for fun

I'm watching HIMYM right now so Lily/Marshall and Robin/Barney are on my mind. Oh, and Johnlock. I didn't watch Legend of Korra past season one but I did ship Korrasami from afar. How to Get Away With Murder's Connor/Oliver.
Korra and Asami, Clarke and Lexa, and I haven't really started watching Person of Interest but I'm already shipping Root and Shaw from all I've seen on Tumblr haha.
