To keep it condensed:
Life, at times, enjoys poking at me and pissing me off. I'm not sure if that means some deity, just likes reminding me, hey, it's pointless to defy what I have in mind, so give in and do what you naturally do best, or that I've got too many issues to resolve, obstacles to overcome, and hurdles to jump -- so many -- and I will never be able to reach a stage where, finally, I can be of purpose or value to somebody, let alone the world.

Call it egotistical if you will, but often times, I believe I'm an exception to certain things, simply for the fact I am me, when it comes to matters of interpersonal or romantic relations. And that I exist simply to remind others, hey, not everybody gets acknowledged or appreciated, as some sort of example. Of course, I also like my distance and walls, the closer one gets to me. It's a really old and bad habit.​

 

Lately I am thinking Leather sounds very familiar when you think about my love past.

Probably it is my interpretation so it would be better to add... I think "Hand me my leather" could mean asking back what you gave in a relationship... In an one-sided physical relationship other side wants only your skin/sex. So you want your skin back... your innocence... However that person changes it, it wasn't that pure skin anymore, they process it into something new.. the leather. Leather or not, you still ask for getting something back... salvaging something you think you lost even you know you can never truely get it back.

This song was the song I listened to all the time as a teen. Unfortunately, I was thinking of my parents whenever it played. I depended on them so much but they mentally and emotionally separated themselves from me when I started getting depressed. They basically ignored my depression and treated me as if I where normal and could get up out of bed with ease or interact with others without feeling like everyone in the room hated me. The only thing I'd end up focusing on is how different our minds where.

 

Corny, I know, but it's a toss up between "Brave" and "Let It Go". Told you.

Personally, I find these lyrics comforting and liberating, as they let you say, "You know what, actually I do have a problem, so let's fucking deal with it!" The song also talks about the acceptance of anyone who is different, telling you to fight back against the supposed 'norm'. This is particularly clear in the music video, which talks about acceptance of all kinds of people (including LGBT ;D).

I find it very inspiring and it gives me a self confidence boost whenever I listen to it...
Especially the line "and I am the one, I've been waiting for"
Instead of waiting for others to love and accept me, why shouldn't I do it? If people come, great. But "I am more than this" pain and self hating I put myself through.
