That is so true, you never know what you might enjoy doing. I was going to go to school to be a teacher. Didnt end up happening and for part time work I got certified as a nurses aide and got a job at a nursing home thinking Id get my experience and go on to work at a hospital. Ends up I LOVE working with the elderly, esp. people with Alzheimers. Never in a million years would I have thought Id end up doing this. Its a lot harder than I thought but I love it so much.

I studied engineering at uni and ended up working in computers before getting fed up with them and training as a mechanic before being forced to give up work to become a full time carer. No my ideal job by a long shot, but one that I have to do.

    Noooooo!

Journalism isn't a very good career. I'm trying to get out. Everyone I know is worried about their jobs. The thing is, either you're at a print publication and worried about your future (like me) or you're working for one of those soul-less, click baited driven sites that let SEO dictate what they cover.

I started in print, helped launch two online publications, then went back to print. If I find a good, stable PR job, I'm jumping ship ASAP.

I'm a few weeks away from getting my degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Middle School Mathematics Education. I would either like to teach late elementary (4th/5th) or middle school math.

I'm studying speech pathology so I will probably end up doing that as a career. If it doesn't happen for whatever reason, I would definitely want to be a preschool teacher. I've done some placements at preschools and absolutely love them

I work in quality control and part time for a car rally.

I'd love to get more involved in the car world but that would mean moving to LA and I don't have the money to do so right now.

I wanted to be an animator for many many years, but decided that it wasn't going to get me where I wanted to go (Japan). Instead I switched to teaching, which is what I currently do, and I enjoy it. But in my first year teaching I decided that I don't want to teach forever, so I plan on going back to school for a Masters in Couselling. I'm aiming to be a Guidance Counsellor or Youth Counsellor.

I currently drive buses which is as boring as it sounds. However I'm now training to join the Army.

After I left school I went through a phase of wanting to do all sorts of jobs. I liked the idea of making positive changes in the community so I thought perhaps politics. I like helping people so I thought why not psychology and counselling. A trade job like a mechanic, electrician etc would mean always having a skill to sell in almost any country so maybe that. I fancied having my own business so a restaurant might be the way to go.

Ultimately I've settled on the fact that you can only do so much and without the drive and ambition you won't achieve even half of what you're capable of. I lacked the ambition to follow through on any of those ideas I had. I've completed courses at college in Psychology, Sociology, Politics, English, Cookery, Hospitality and Car Mechanics. I even included bar tending and cocktail making in the hospitality course. So, a jack of all trades and a master of none it seems!

Anyway, I feel the Army will allow me to fulfill my potential. I'll learn trade skills, get to travel (which I love) and even make use of the driving experience I already have. Perhaps even mature a bit!

I still haven't figured out my career path and I've been out of HS for a couple of years now. The hardest part about it is that I want to do EVERYTHING, but I also don't know what I'm good at of love enough to stick with.
When I get down to it, I want to do something that will make me able to help others and make people happy, just gotta find out what that is first. haha :astonished:

Ideally, I'd like to be a barrister. However, my real focus has to be on getting into studying law and if I do, seeing which areas I particularly enjoy and excel in. I can't decide now with certainty about something I'm in no position to choose yet, obviously.

Though when I was younger I really wanted to be a Master builder for LEGO Nyu~

Molecular biology or Genetics. Always thought it should go with psychology, but I want to minor in physics--Biophysics. I really want to get to understand the structures and functions of biological components be it crystalline or at least new develop new insight into how concepts in physics can be observed in biological systems.
I've considered sociology or psychology but unsure of which.

Well, I write. I'm working on a very big (and hopefully very good) book right now, and it will hopefully be the beginning of my writing career.

Writing is pretty much ALL I want to do in life. I want to write articles, books, stories, scripts, screenplays, plots for videogames, anything that has to do with the art of language, a good story, and character development. I know that I can do it too, with a little more refinement.
I really can't see myself being passionate about anything else but a lover like I am about writing
I have already begun planning out a second book, even though I'm not even halfway done with my first, and I have dozens of others in line after that.
I will live, and as long as I live, I will write. It is the only thing that's really CERTAIN about my future, and I will write.

My mum works in the medical field too! Before that she always thought she would be a librarian or a farmer. Now she can't imagine doing something else
