I have a facebook account under my new name and pronouns. A family member found it and messaged me saying "You look familiar". I haven't come out to them yet though. I have no idea what to do!:help:
Not very close, tbh. They live on the other side of the country and I rarely talk with them. That said, they are very nosy...
Just say you probably mistook me for someone else, or something like that. And they're nosy? Oh boy...I've had my fill of nosy people, 90% of my hometown is nosy...
say "well you don't look familiar to me, so be a sweet random stranger and fuck off " or something along those lines. and then block them
You could just make a new facebook account when you come out, so blocking them could have no bad effects. On the other hand, if it is obviously yours the family member could become mad at you. You do have a pretty good excuse, and if they are nosy, telling them is probably not a great idea - nosy people are great blabbers.
Sometimes the best thing to do on social media when someone tries to make a connection to you which you don't want is ignore them.
