Well, Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams goes without saying for me, and should for anyone who likes the horror genre.

    Some others...

Resident Evil 6 (yes, I actually liked it)
    Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut
    Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut
(or as I call it, The Twin Peaks Video-Game)
    Man Hunt (*PS2)
    BloodRayne and BloodRayne 2
    Siren: Blood Curse

I'm also going to go out on a limb, stretching the term "horror" to the unusually cerebral Always Sometimes Monsters.

I have always been a fan of the Clock Tower series. I didn't play many Horror games when I was a kid all the way up until a couple years ago. When it came out, though I am not sure if it can be classified as a Horror game, I absolutely adored The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Truly a masterpiece as far as captivating me and the unraveling of the story went. It was wonderful. I liked Amnesia and a few others in recent times like Five Nights at Freddy's; but they aren't my favorite. I guess I will have to go with Clock Tower! Nothing has ever scared me like the second one, I think.

I picked it up when it was just starting to get it's cult following on the 360. Aside from the laughable voice acting the game is amazing. And yes, very Twin Peaks. Also a fan of that show.

    Silent Hill 2!
I'm super excited to play the updated resident evil remake and I'm sure I'll love it, but my current laptop is way too old and terrible to run it properly, and my actually good laptop is being repaired.
Would Dark Souls count as a horror game? It's definitely not horror in a traditional sense or anything, but the gameplay is certainly survival horror-esque and it's caused me many a panic attack.

Silent Hill 2 looks creepy. But I never heavily played it (only watched it played), so my votes has to go to:

    Resident Evil.

While Resident Evil 2 and 4 are my favorites, from a gameplay perspective, the original game is, in my opinion, still the best done. It gradually builds up, leaving you the whole time to imagine what could happen... which is what made it so effective. My mind is scarier than a lot of actual moments and events in movies or games.

How neat. I didn't even have to write my own list, I just had to quote yours and cross out the ones I never played and add one thing.

assassins creed unity got pretty scary with the missing faces but i would say fallout 3 and bioshock 1 and 2 scared me just because of the environments.they may not be horror but they can be scary at times.

...are you mocking me? Because I feel like I'm being mocked.

Anyway, despite the unusual outcry against Daniel Licht's new score, I also enjoyed Silent Hill Downpour, Alone in the Dark: Inferno (the remastered version on PS3 of the disastrous XBox360/PS2 title) is decent.

I also want to say Heavy Rain, but I'm not sure if it counts.

Oh, Evil Dead: Fistful of Boomstick and Evil Dead Regeneration are good, too!

But we're all forgetting the scariest game of all time:

    Jump Start! 4th Grade. :eek::tears:

Among the Sleep was probably one of the best horror games I have ever played. You play first-person as a baby, and as soon as you beat it a plot twist is dropped that literally changed my life for a couple days!

Try playing through it alone in the dark. It's incredibly creepy and near impossible to not say "fuck it" throw the mouse away and run hide in a corner. I guess the thought of being hunted and completely defenseless is what makes this game so disgustingly scary.
