I know I'm not "normal", and proud. Normal is overrated. What I was trying to say is, it seems like he was saying the typical "it's a phase, you'll grow out of it" kind of thing. If people don't want to sleep, so be it.

I'm like that, from time to time. These days I like to sleep, but I go to sleep late, at 4 or 5 o'clock... When I don't sleep, I feel awful the next day, so it isn't worth it.
Have anybody wondered... why do we need sleep, anyway? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

There's nothing to wonder about, it's all just biology. It's not like it's the science of black holes.

In mah life, during the day I just go about my day to day life; play games, play guitar, listen to music, go to school, etc., But during the night I come here and watch anime, so sleep is really rather low on my priority list. I guess it's good, it's like a time machine from dinner to breakfast which is nice, but I think sleep is a waste of time when you could be doing this. Gotta say though, there are days when I just give up and sleep.

Sleep is very important and without it we die. It's very essential for cognitive processing and basic human function but I think a lot of people wish that we only needed 2/3 hours sleep so we waste as little time doing nothing in our busy lives. We can function on a few hours sleep a night but unfortunately we are then not functioning to our full capability.

Normal is actually quite good in some cases. For example, I am glad I have a normally functioning bladder and don't pee myself (knock on wood!). But yes, normally can be good, neutral, or bad. It's terrible advice to tell a person "so be it" if they "don't want to" sleep. Sleep is essential to normal body functions (normal in this case is not overrated) and it sounds like they have a sleeping disorder more linked to a mental issue. While telling someone they will grow out of it isn't the best advice (they should see a doctor), at least it's trying to be encouraging and giving personal experience with similar issues.

I regularly function on 1.5 - 4 hours of sleep a night for several weeks in a row and occasionally don't sleep at all for a night. Then crash about once a month for 10-12 hours. If I sleep more than 5 hours in a night I drag horribly and can't get motivated. This habit Drives my friends crazy because most of them can't function on less than six hours and it worries other friends. I've never been able to sleep full 6-8 hours, my father was the same way.
