In that situation, yeah I don't know. A few months ago, I went down the hall to the bathroom and found a $5 bill laying on the ground. Looked around, nobody in sight, so I kept it.

If it's by the register, I give it to the cashier. If it's just on the floor nowhere near the register, I'd pocket it.

I'd return it. I left a £5 note at a self serve checkout once in a moment of absent mindedness. Phoned the store up to check and to my delight, someone had handed it in.

I'd give it to the cashier. Okay, if I found money on an empty sidewalk or in the middle of a field, I'd probably keep it, but not in a situation like that.

Assuming you mean that it was in a location where it didn't appear to belong to someone? I, being a fine upstanding citizen, would have to go to the police and turn it the nine million dollars that I found.

I think I would keep it, but it depends on my mood. Other option is giving it to charity.

My bad was watching breaking bad in the background and it combined in my head as $10 million lol. If I found ten bucks on the ground it's mine.

This did happen to me but with ~$60 (other currency in my country). Found the money on the floor by the register and I picked it up and gave it to the cashier. Didn't even think about it. My friends thought that was stupid of me. As we walked out I got punched on the arm even. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I brought up this scenario in the OP because this actually happened yesterday. A $10 bill was dropped by a mailman, but I didn't realize it at the time it fell. At the time, he had dropped the $10 bill as well as a quarter. He retrieved the quarter but had not seen the money and neither did I. Both had fallen to a thin platform about ankle high(an area to step on to rest one's feet) in front of the cash register.

Prior to the mailman arriving, I had gone up to place my order and sat down while my food was being prepared. No money was there when I went up.

After the mailman had got his food more quickly than I did, he left. Then some 17-21 year old something's walked by, saw it, and took it. I knew immediately that it was the mailman's money. I didn't want to speak up because the mailman had left anyways. It just burned me a little that these rich yuppy kids took the money of a man who had busted his ass in the cold all day.

I'd give it to the employee manning the till or, if possible, give it to the person who lost it. As far as I'm concerned it's not mine and have no right to just take it.
