OK, update on my Hunter x Hunter progress because it is my current anime obsession. When Gon fights Hisoka in episode 35 (I think?) I can't remember the last time I was so HYPED watching an anime/reading manga to see a battle go down. I was literally clenching my fists and my mouth was open the whole time. I fucking died at the "schwing" joke. I've been loving the Yorknew Arc as I thought I would. Recently my opinion on the show has jumped from about "this is pretty good" to "this is great." But all the same, I can't help but feel a little bit like I shouldn't get my hopes up because it seems like this probably will not end in a satisfying manner. I don't like the idea that the Phantom Troupe will be discarded as villains, when if anything they should have devoted a lot of episodes to Gon and his friends finding a way to defeat even the powerful members. I think I see where this is going and in the end I feel I'll be disappointed and mad that so much potential was squandered. Because Hunter x Hunter unfortunately breaks some shonen tropes that I think it would be better off adhering to, like following through with the villains you establish. Case in point, how the Zoldyck family put up basically no fight trying to keep Killua from Gon. Now I have to wonder what kind of a threat they even present if they're not doing anything to stand in our protagonists' way. All in all, lots of strong feelings toward this show. Like, "damn this is a good idea," or "damn this is imaginative/cool/funny," and also, "why the hell are you letting the story play out like this, setting up all these neat villains that the protagonists are refusing to fight?" I wanna see more stuff like Kurapika's revenge against that Phantom Troupe member. That was sick. I guess the best thing about Hunter x Hunter is that it pumps me up to work on my own story.
I just started watching Beck. Turns out to be a good anime! I am sooooo inloved with Maho! She's so gorgeous! And her voice... GODDESS!
