Well alabama has started issuing marriage license for gay couples. It's the 37th state to legalize gay marriage. States | Freedom to Marry. You know it's funny I always thought for sure Alabama was going to be the last state to legalize gay marriage but looks like im wrong.

Roy Moore (chief Justice) has been telling lower court judges to ignore federal court decisions.

it's almost like the supremacy clause is meaningless to him or something

That's great for Alabama. Looks like Chief Justice Roy Moore is pissed. Also a great thing.

I thought Alabama would be last. I guess that's why they pushed it. XD
And now I'm annoyed at work because the ladies I work with keep bitching about how perverted and disgusting it is. -_-

Same here I thought for sure Alabama was the last state. Now I'm saying Georgia.

I think Georgia will make it before last because Atlanta is crawling with LGBT. Mississippi on the other hand...

I could see why you think that. However Misssisipi's gay marriage ban was ruled unconstitutional. Georgia on the other hand still has a very strong gay marriage ban.

I'm pretty sure we're good in NC. I was happy when it happened, then my dad walked in complaining -_-

    This was a while ago.

A CNN report earlier featured a lesbian couple in Alabama who'll be marrying today, and one of the women named Felicia Fontaine made a great point about gay marriage in Dixie.

"There'll still be a lot of couples who can't get married because you get married on Saturday and you're fired from your job on Monday. All the prejudices that have been opposing this are still there. They haven't gone away because a judge and the courts have made a ruling."

Meanwhile, this was the scene outside the Alabama State Capitol:

    "Cristian" marriage?

As in marriage in the way of Charlie Crist, the former governor of Florida?

This was the guy who always paid some bombshell to marry him when he was up for re-election, then quietly get divorced a few months after re-election. It's widely thought that Crist is gay, and those ladies were beards.

I myself have always thought Mississippi will be last, and is a more backward, poor place than Alabama. With Alabama, you do have groups like the SPLC based there, and a certain pride surrounding the civil rights movement, as well as more colleges.

I'm happy to see this; my $ is on Louisiana and Mississippi to be last, or maybe Nebraska, unless SCOTUS settles things.

It amazes me that the Bible Belt and deep south are getting marriage equality before Ohio. While I figured they would be one of the final ones I knew they wouldnt be the last. My money is on Nebraska and North Dakota.

Interesting note about the Supreme Court denying taking up this case: only the two known homophobe justices voted to review the case: Scalia and Thomas. Alito and Roberts both voted to not grant a review. Maybe this shows the latter two justices may be changing their views for image sake or actual change in opinion? That's also great news when it comes to the cases in April looking to overturn the sixth district's rulings that bans on marriage were constitutional.

You know...to remind ourselves just how ridiculous this whole debate is.
