Why does it have to take so long?!

I live in the UK and plan to transition via the NHS. [Though privately funded is looking better and better!]
I started to get the process under way whilst I was at University, seeing the GP and was going for a 2nd psych appointment. But I had to leave uni and move back home with my parents and now I fear I've got to start all over again; resetting back to 0. So now it's looking like it's 2 years to start HRT again! :frowning2:

Can you get someone from your clinic to transfer you so you're not starting all over again?

Yep, was driving me mental, I cried a lot because the wait was killing me.

Wish it was faster, but there are legitimate reasons why such processes are slow... Unfortunately.

I doubt that's possible, since anywhere you go is gonna wanna do their own assessment. :frowning2:

Well you could at least give it a try.
You could tell them where you were before, and with your consent it might bepossible they share their findings.

You could also say you have seen someone before, and if that in itself would help speed it up... or if they can speed it up because you have started before... something along those lines...

    (*hug*)

Oh here are seome resources for the uk... maybe you could ask them...

One problem is, I can't remember the name of the therapist. :frowning2:

Might have to change my GP and start again. :/

Not gonna lie, I'm still pretty daunted at the idea of how long the wait is over here, and I definitely can't go private because my mum is trying to 'persuade me not to be trans' by not giving me any money (I'm an unemployed full-time student and my maintenance grant doesn't even cover termly accommodation fees, so I am currently in massive overdraft, thanks mum). Just make sure you check out the reputation of any private clinics you might end up going to, because I've heard some pretty dodgy things about a particular doctor at the one in London and I dunno whether others might have employed similarly shitty individuals. Best of luck!

It's looking pretty expensive. And not do-able if I want to move out.
NHS is looking like the way to go, but still. :frowning2:
