So after years of heterosexual (emphasis on the sexual) themed ads, Lynx have put out an advert featuring a brief gay kiss.

Now I'm not normally a fan of the brand, be it for their marketing or their products, but credit where credit is due this advert is not too shabby.

Things I really like:
-That they discuss male hair loss and balding without resorting to making crude jokes, instead portraying it as something natural and normal
-The fact the gay aspect doesn't seem to play into shock value - sure its meant to be unexpected (and it is for a Lynx commercial), but its in a nice "oh right, well that makes sense" sort of way. Its not offensive, patronising or homophobic.
-For a Lynx commercial its surprisingly sensitive, theres less of the usual "lad culture" cliches with it.

Now I do have my criticisms, I would have liked a more average looking model, but hey, its a commercial, its to be expected. I don't actually like the advertised products either, the "natural look" gel/wax makes hair horribly crispy.

But all in all, its a small step in the right direction. Well done. :eusa_clap

That guy has great hair? Sounds like an unintentional joke to me.

Well its typical good hair-product-commercial hair. Thick, straight and moldable (the hair that is, not the model! :lol:slight_smile:.

I would call this a bi kiss rather than a gay one. But, nonetheless, progress! Though they skip through that scene so fast.

It is a one minute commercial. All the scenes were that quick, and had to be for them to pack it all in. I like it, though I don't care for their hair products, they make my hair look like it hasn't been washed in months.

Well, just noticed the fine print that flash through at 0:37 - "Cannot prevent hair loss or make you more attractive to the opposite sex"

Uhm...what about people with the same sex? Can't gay people make a claim that they couldn't attract people with the same sex, despite the advertisement seemed to hinted at it? False advertisement lawsuit, maybe? XD

Maybe it's actually extremely effective at same-sex attraction, we haven't actually tested it.
Nevertheless, I need it to be clinically proven before I invest my money.

Awesome! Finally gaining some ground in media. Also, does anyone remeber that android commercial with the same sex proposal? That was cool too.

I'm still not going to wear their products. Lynx and Axe smell like bug spray to me.

On the other hand, I heartily welcome sexual diversity in these ads. They're definitely making some progress. As 741852963 mentioned, they're pretty devoted to traditional and rather ludicrous expressions of heterosexual masculinity, which makes this a pleasant surprise.

Axe body wash and all other of their other products will be outlawed, once I become dictator of the world!

I like the "you might be gay but so what" attitude of the add.

Mostly true, although Axe/Lynx Peace smells a hell of a lot like Dior Fahrenheit, not that Dior would appreciate that comparison, but its true! Its the violet.

What I liked the most about the gesture was how nonchalant it was. How they didn't dwell on it or draw any more attention to it than the (hetero) kiss that came before.

This is the kind of representation I want; the one in which companies aren't drawing big fat circles around the inclusion of sexual diversity in their marketing with thick red marker as if saying (or more like yelling) "Look! Look! We are so progressive and open-minded! (as long as it's trendy of course)" so they can add "#gayfriendly" to the list of buzzwords in their social media accounts. The one in which the fantasy is that we live in a world in which sexuality is not a matter of concern, no more important than, say, the color of your hair.

I liked this ad. I would have liked it regardless of inclusiveness since (as usual for Axe/Lynx) the copywriting, editing, and set design were top notch, but the bi/gay kiss was a thoughtful (and wise) touch.

No, I'm still not trusting my hair to their products (it's bad enough as it is without the help, thank you very much).

I love how the kiss between the two guys seemed like the most natural thing ever, just the way it should be.
