Shortest: Must be Stockholm to Helsinki.

Longest: Stockholm to some place in northeast USA. I lived there for a while when I was about 2/3 years old, but I have no idea in which city we landed.

My longest flight was from Vancouver, Canada to Frankfurt, Germany with Air Canada/Lufthansa - 10:00 hours.

My shortest flight was from Vancouver to the city where I live - 25 minutes.

My longest flight was from New York (JFK) to Moscow. I think it was about 10 hours in the end.

Shortest flight was from West Palm Beach, FL to Orlando. Took about 40 or so minutes.

LOL. 744 is great "shorthand." Those are B-s and the 319s are A-s!

I wonder what the furthest nonstop currently is. I think it's one of the N.Y. airports to one of the big Asian airports but I'm not sure.

Perhaps you should have also put an option for how long of a flight a person is willing to endure. For me, that would be about 8.5 hours or so, given that I, and many others here and most people I know, probably fly "in the back." If I were to ever fly "up front," then I could probably go longer. I'd rather have shorter flights and more connections than longer flights. From some major airports on the East Coast to Western Europe, you can make the eastbound trek in less than 7 hours sometimes, given the jet stream AND if you pick up a good tailwind. Coming back west is always at least 1 hour more.

The furthest nonstop currently is a tie. Qantas from Dallas to Sydney and Delta from Johannesburg to Atlanta. Both 16 hours and 55 minutes.

However, Qantas is going to start service from New York to Sydney, which will mean that that flight will be the longest scheduled nonstop in the world  possibly ~18 hours.

I almost took a twenty-minute flight from Charlotte to Greensboro, NC once, but that would have been pointless so my actual shortest was a little over an hour from Detroit to Washington DC. My longest would have been from Detroit to Florida, but I was really young at the time so I have no idea how long it took.

I get really bad earaches on flights longer than an hour (tried chewing gum, only helps to a point) so if I want to go anywhere really far away I'm probably going to have to do it in hops.

Actually that would still be shorter than the current direct flight from Toronto Pearson International to Sydney, with Air Canada, which is over 22 hours long.

... thinking about it, I wouldn't mind trying it once, especially on a 77W.

Longest/shortest: Only been on a plane from San Antonio, TX to (I believe) Port Lavaca, TX. Around 125 miles as the crow flies. I say "I believe" because we flew on a private Gulfstream I and I don't recall the actual town where we landed because it was a smaller airfield. My dad had business with the owner of the owner of the company he works for and it was the weekend so we all went on a trip. It was the first time my sister flew (right after eating an A1 Thick and Hearty at Whataburger and she lost her cookies on the flight :lol:slight_smile:.

Is it a nonstop flight though? Does the plane take off in Toronto and land in Sydney?

    Longest flights were:
-Auckland, NZ to Los Angeles, CA via Qantas Airlines/ then changed over in LA to Salt Lake City, Utah via JetBlue I think....
-Oakland, CA to Auckland, NZ to Sydney, Australia via Air New Zealand
[both were about 16 hours, I can't exactly remember]

    Shortest flight:
-Salt Lake City, Utah to Tampa, Florida via Northwest Airlines? (I think we changed over in Seattle or something, I'm not exactly sure)
[not sure of how many hours but it was short enough that one adult didn't suffer an emotional breakdown from having to take care of one teenager, two adolescents and a toddler.)

Actually scratch that.... the flight does have a stop in Vancouver for refueling.

So the 18 hour flight from New York to Sydney would actually be one of the longest non-stop flights as the current longest non-stop flight is from Dallas/Forth Worth to Sydney, with Quantas, and is 16 hours and 55 minutes in duration.

Longest would be from Warsaw to NY (9-10hrs), shortest between Lima and Cusco (1hr).
I did book a flight for my sister between Santa Barbara and LAX-- I think she spent more time taxiing then in the air.

Hope you had a soft landing

I can only guess, because I haven't flown in more than 30 years. Last time I tried, I only got a few yards, and my arms were tired for a week.

Seriously...the last time was when I was in fourth grade. We went to the midwest. The shortest flight was probably about 1.5 hours from one city to another. The longest was longer, but maybe about 5 hours.
