This was something that my family and I discussed today at breakfast.

What is the longest and shortest flight that you've been on?

What were the destinations and how long were they?

    Mine:

Longest- Munich, Germany to Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. on Delta Airlines (10 hours, 55 minutes) I will say that it's easier flying back from Europe since you come back the same day and you're staying with the sun as you fly west.

Shortest- Staunton, Virginia, U.S. to Washington-Dulles (Reston, Virginia) on Silver Airlines, 28 minutes. We never actually left Virginia

The shortest flight I was on was a little less than thirty minutes, with my dad in a two-seater. A wasp flew in the air vent and stung my dad (the pilot), so we had to land and take care of his hand.

The longest I've been on was my flight from Portland (OR) to Hawaii. I don't remember how long it was, but I know it was the farthest.

Shortest: 2 hr flight to Seattle from Santa Rosa (CA)

Longest: I can't remember the exact time but it took all day. Started in SF, layover in Denver, then to NYC.

    Longest?

Nashville, Tennessee to New York City, New York to Cairo, Egypt. If we shave off Nashville to NYC, it was still close to 12 hours. There's also the whole waiting in the airport, and boarding, but I won't count those.

    Shortest?

Probably when I jumped off a roof, with a blanket as a parachute, onto a trampoline. That lasted about 10 seconds.

Almost the same here -> Berlin - Los Angeles . I think it must have been more than 12 hours.
Shortest -> Maybe an hour between Palma de Majorca - Madrid, as I went to spain for holidays.

My longest flight was eight hours, between London and Doha, and then another eight hours to Jo'burg. My shortest was between two norwegian cities, and lasted about ten minutes.

Longest: Munich, Germany to San Francisco, CA on Lufthansa, and it lasted about 12 hours. Too long for me. Also, it was really weird in that the pilot did a "go around," pulling up as he was past the San Mateo Bridge but prior to the runways. He made an odd announcement about that. It was weird to hear the engines spool up and start climbing again but, man, were the views of the route he took great!

Shortest: Paris, France to London, England, but I'm sure I've had numerous others that might compete with or beat that one.

Longest: San Francisco to Tokyo nonstop, I think was about 12 hours.

Shortest: If you count timezones, I had one from Detroit to Kalamazoo that was 2 minutes because of the timezone change. If you count actual time in the air, probably Columbus to Cleveland in a puddle jumper that was about 25 minutes.

Shortest was 45 minutes - from London to Amsterdam.

I meant just nonstop; the longest and shortest amount of time that you've endured on a single commercial flight. The layover is the pause between two flights.

Shortest would be NL - Barcelona or NL - Stockholm. Longest, the same. I don't know which took longer but I don't think either of them were much longer than 90 minutes

Longest: United flight 15 from Newark to Honolulu. 10 hours and 15 minutes.

Shortest: Northwest Airlink/Delta Connection from Flint, MI to Detroit. 48 miles.

Kalamazoo is still in the Eastern time zone. But if you fly American from AZO to Chicago, you arrive 5 minutes before you left. What were you up to here?

Longest, almost certainly Atlanta, GA to London, UK.

    Shortest, either:

San Francisco to Monterey Bay, CA (in a tiny prop plane that vibrated my skull almost to pieces); or

London to Inverness, Scotland (where my partner and I were given enormous complementary whiskies by a really cute stewardess during the flight, because takeoff was late). It was suggested later that we should have flirted with her. Nobody ever tells me these things at the right time. *sigh*

I've not looked up the mileage in either case...I suspect the CA flight was shorter, but both seemed ridiculous at the time. We had to drink our Scotch rather fast to finish it before we landed...Welcome to Scotland!! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Longest flight was 23 1/2 hours from London to Sydney via Dubai.

Shortest was about 35 mins from Belfast to Liverpool.

I did fall from a tree when I was about ten but I don't suppose that counts as a flight.
