My bf and I watched that together. If that was real life and I was younger, I would want to pursue either of them.

 

The idea that African-Americans need to currently assimilate in American culture is both confusing and baffling. Especially when you consider the fact that most African-Americans are descedants of slaves that been violently and forcely removed from their own cultural heritage. The truth is African-Americans are the most assimilated ethnic group of color in America. So what is it that need to be assimilated, skin lightening products and perms are already profitable industries. :dry:

 

darn, I'm sorry that this is still an issue. all I want taken into consideration is that both the dominant and minority groups work to eliminate race issues. Assimilate is probs not a good word. I like Gen's definition of acculturation. We are a society built of many cultures, many influences. Both need mutual respect of eachother, that's why its a two way street.

Why has it taken me this long to discover Poets of the Fall?

I had a decent time yesterday. Arrived in Nashville about 5 PM, stayed until around 11 PM, and came back home and slept a bit.

My blind date was a very good-looking young lady. She was friendly but a little shy, but I got her to open up. She's friends with one of the fellows I know's sister. She may not know much about politics or history, but damn, the woman can dance.

Problem is, she doesn't like the fact I'm a virgin. She was honest about her belief that men should be a certain level of experienced, especially the older they get. Basically, she found it odd I'm nearing 29 and haven't even kissed somebody on the lips, and feels something must be wrong with me, and it should be worked on, or otherwise I'd have been kissed by now. To her, it was a red flag.

Now, on the surface, that seems to be a very insensitive thing to say. But I believe it is a reminder of the pressures men face in society, even if I don't wish to identify as one, many people presume I am one.

So, there won't be a second date, though she still wants to keep in touch. She thinks I'm smart and funny, and would make for good company.

That she's right about. She's going to be hard pressed to find anybody to treat her better, because I dropped close to $300 on her, which included the meal, the drinks, and buying rounds for the individuals who came with us.

On a positive note, I was told I was the best date she'd had. So, you know, not bad for the red-flagging virgin, eh? LOL.

 

Well, I was thinking about coming out to my close family.
Now that is a definite nope.

A little bit info... those 3 ladies are from Dungeons and Dragons: Wrath of the Elemental God (a.k.a D&D 2 movie).

I find it pretty awesome that they get ready for the movie with D&D rule books.

 

I turned into a hyperactive pink bunny. It's creepy.
Last year I've been very much into gothic and that dark stuff and today I'd like to paint my closet pink and wear pink and colorful clothes....
