Does anyone else have an "I'm Sad" Playlist? Whenever I'm in a bad mood I'll sometimes pick out specific songs from my collection and just listen to them over and over till I either feel better or just get tired of it... for me I'll usually go straight for one of these:

    1. Rolling Girl - Akiakane
    2. Sukiyaki - Kyu Sakamoto
    3. Somewhere I Belong -Linkin Park
    4. Carry On My Wayward Son - Kansas
    5. Fixing a Hole - The Beatles
    6. Only Sleeping - The Beatles
    7. So Far Away - Avenged Sevenfold
    8. Obsession - See-Saw
    9. Chop Suey - System of a Down
    10. Coming Undone - Korn
    11. Somebody To Love - Queen
    12. Sail - Awolnation
    13. Radio Active - Imagine Dragons
    14. Secret - The Pierces
    15. Feel Good Inc. - Gorillaz
    16. Like a Stone - Audioslave
    17. Pinch Me - Bare Naked Ladies
    18. Superman - Five For Fighting
    19. Viva La Vida - Coldplay
    20. Remember You - Rebecca Sugar

There are lots more but I figure a list of twenty is plenty XD I find sad songs or songs with depressing subject matter usually help me just work through whatever is wrong in my head... kind of like throwing dry leaves on a fire, it feels more intense but it burns out faster I guess! xD
What about you all? Do you have a sadness play list for when you're depressed or in a bad mood? What do you like to listen to when you are sad?

Damn, you beat me to this thread. I was gonna make it as soon as I had my playlist ready, which is still not ready btw but I will update here once I'm done wallowing in my own sadness. I can't recognize a single song in yours besides "Chop Suey" so this should be a fun way to find new gloomy beats.

REVELING ON YOUR OWN MISERY FTW (I don't care how contradictory that sounds).

I try to not stick to a single song/songs. Mostly browse around the internet, choosing stuff that i feel like listening to in the moment. Due to the nature of my "listening habits" i think it would be counter productive to try and list most of the songs i tend to gravitate towards, in times of depression. So i've decided to list, just two. These are by no means, my favorites, but i do like them.

Alright, i know i said two songs, but i feel that i must mention this one as well, as it has been "used" quite often, in the past month, as means to force myself to combat feeling numb. One does need to cry from time to time, unfortunately, this song didn't do it for me.

When I'm sad I try to listen to happy music, so any kind of ragtime music will be what I'm jamming to.

    Joplin is the best.

Johnny Cash - "Man in Black"
Not a sad song in the sense, it's about self-pity or overwhelming emotions. However, it is a sad song, because it addresses a few things. Also, it's Johnny Cash, so you know, he's going to make it sadly sobering. I tend to listen to this, if I'm feeling sad but want a reminder that, you know, life is what you make it.

The Rolling Stones - "Paint it Black"
Fairly sad-sounding at times, with bouts of liveliness. I think that's why I like it, because it acknowledges sadness but also, a chance, at things turning around. Of course, the lyrics can betray the sound of the song.

Nightwish - "End of All Hope"
An epically-sounding sad song. As you can probably tell, from the title of the song, it's about everything crashing down around you, and experiencing a mental, emotional, and spiritual fucking of crippling severity. However, if I were ever faced with a hopeless situation, this is the song I'd want playing, because, despite the futility it speaks of, it still, though very nominally, expresses a defiant hope.

    Staind - "Outside"
Beautiful song. You can feel the sadness of it, especially near the final hook. Not much else to say, except, when I hear this song, I have a tendency to belt out the chorus.

Pink Floyd - "Goodbye, Blue Sky"
Very foreboding sound. Despite it's melodic parts, it easily reminds you of the coming destruction, and the sadness tagging along. I've also considered having this song, playing, at my funeral.

Alice in Chains - "Heaven Beside You"
I'll let the band's guitarist's own words, speak about this song:

"Another attempt to reconcile the fact that my life and paths are tearing me apart from the person I love.
All the songs I write about her are a way for me to maybe speak to her, express things I could never express."

Kansas - "Dust in the Wind"
This fucking song. It lures you in with it's beauty, then crushes your optimism with defeating lyrics. You want to talk about futility and insignificance, here it is, in a pretty-sounding package.

    Apocalyptica - "Farewell"
This song doesn't need words. It's sound, alone, lets you know, how heavy you should feel.

    Metallica - "Nothing Else Matters"
Beautiful-sounding song. While not as sad as the title may elude it to potentially being, it still has remnants of sadness. It's about being far away from somebody, who you deeply care about. So, it's sad, in a different way.

    Metallica - "Fade to Black"
Now this song, is really sad. It's about, basically, losing the will to live, and contemplating the next step, to ease or end the uselessness one succumbs to. Also, it has a very pretty sound in instrumental terms.

    Metallica - "One"
Yes, I know. THREE Metallica songs. What can I say? I like Metallica, well, Black Album and before.

As for the song itself. It's a realization of sadness for the listener. See, the song is about a wounded soldier. How wounded? This soldier cannot see, cannot hear, cannot speak, and cannot move. They're trapped in their mind, an agonizing darkness, and incapable of escaping -- to regain their senses, to seek out another for comfort, or to even tell another, to put them out of their misery. They simply exist, with only the desire to die, keeping them alive. Irony at it's cruelest.

Imagining that kind of situation, is not only slightly frightening, but saddening as well.

System of A Down - "Soldier Side"
My favorite System of a Down song. The lyrics convey despair, God's abandonment, and the futility of conflict. Depressing subjects, I'm sure, but at the same time, this is one of my work out songs. Why? Well, to put it simply, it's a sobering reminder, of why I keep progressing forward. In that regard, it's also inspiring.

My sad playlist consists of Pete Murray, two albums Feeler and Opportunity, I do listen to songs with depressing subject matter but they aren't part of my sad playlist.
