If I meet someone that is openly neither man nor woman, how should I call them? Should I use neutral pronouns or just use their names istead? Would you feel offended if I asked how you preffer to be called?
When you first find out, it's probably best to find out preferred pronouns but else just use 'they' for pronouns etc..
Your best choice is to ask. Some prefer they/them/their, or ze/zir/zem/; others are indifferent to pronouns altogether, or have varying preferences, depending on mood, presentation, etc.
Definitely ask. I love when people ask me because that means they care enough to try to get it right. Using they/them until you know is usually a safe bet, or you can just avoid using pronouns and use their name instead.
Just ask! Personally I don't have a pref when it comes to pronouns but many do so just ask, it shows you really care.
It's fine to ask. Something like "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your preferred pronouns" would be an honest and polite way to bring it up.
What would you call a significant other (other than significant other)? Personfriend? Tried-and-true "partner"?
