I know about the major controversy between religious groups and LGBT people and I'm wondering if anyone here chooses to follow a belief. I myself look for pro-gay Christianity, but am considered an agnostic. How about you guys?

I have my beliefs.. Usually I'll just say I'm christian, but I don't really go to church or anything like that.

I'm a Schleiermacherian quasi-deist. I have yet to experience sensus divinitatis but one day.

I don't think there is an afterlife, I don't think there is a soul.

Schliermacher is just what shook me out of my hard core antitheistic mindset

    Same.

I find the arguments for the existence of a metaphysical creator more convincing than the arguments against, but the nature of that creator is harder for me to put into specific beliefs.

I certainly don't believe in a deity who allows people to burn for all eternity or "hates gays" or anything like that. I believe all religions are an attempt to access the same creative force and that no one religion "has it right".

I guess I'm Christian. Sometimes I think the Bible was paraphrased after all these years, though; Why would God create children and damn them to hell?

I am still figuring things out I guess.

I think I'm Christian. I believe in god.

I think all gay people question certain religions even in the slightest when they come out to themselves. That's where I'm at right now.

Hopefully I make peace with it :3

sometimes you flip back. I came out as an atheist and non-hetero at the same time. I've sense changed my mind on religion.

    I believe in Science.

The most basic law of Science is that no energy is created or destroyed, only transferred. Hence why I believe the energy that bind's a person's conciousness together has to go somewhere, be that recycled via reincarnation, or shifted to some other dimensional plain of existence and/or afterlife.

I suppose that technically makes me Agnostic?

I'd probably say that I'm agnostic. Also, this lack of devout religious belief has nothing to do with me being gay. I've considered myself to feel this way for years now.

I tend to avoid talking about religion because a lot of the time it seems like anybody who isn't a hardcore atheist is considered a total nut, but this thread seems reasonable. It's a struggle to have total faith, but at the same time I find it even harder to believe that everything just appeared out of nothing. At the very least, I'm willing to accept that there are things that humans aren't capable of fully understanding. What that means, I don't know. I guess you could say I'm open-minded.

If I had to label myself I guess I'd say I'm a Christian, though I can't say I give the Bible much thought or accept some of the things a lot of Catholics believe in. My mom's side of the family are all Protestant while my dad's side is Catholic. I was raised as a Catholic and went to a Catholic high school, but that was more because the public high school in my town was a dump and in the process of being replaced. My best friend at the time (who is Jewish) went there so I tagged along. I never go to Church or anything and I don't believe in how a lot of religious people "interpret" the Bible, but I try to follow the message of loving other people and don't believe any God would punish another person based on who they love.

On a personal level, I had a potentially life-threatening health scare when I was 17 (fortunately that was resolved positively without complication) and since then I like to take a few minutes every night before I go to sleep and think about my day, making sure to identify at least one good thing that happened. I don't know if that could be considered prayer or not, but it helps me maintain a positive outlook and appreciate what I have going for me.

Bah, I always find this awkward to talk about.

for me a sense of community and support when I was raped was beneficial not of any specific religion but overtones of that with support.

I'm a Christian. The struggle I find is finding a church that is LGBT affirming or at least welcoming and yet is conservative/literal in viewing other areas of Scripture. *dashes out*

I say I am an Atheist though I am not really sure anymore. I lost my faith in May and it has been a battle since. I want to go back to being a Christian and I want to find an open and affirming group but it is going to some time before I am able to do so.
