Well...I need to find a doctor who can just give me like yearly or whatever checkups. I've been talking to my parents about it and they've told me the kind of doctor I need to look for, but I don't really know how to choose a doctor...

Like, I'm male. Do I need a male doctor or a female doctor? I'm in a straight relationship but I'm bisexual, do I need to account for that in choosing a doctor? Basically I just need help wading through the mess that exists online so that I can choose a doctor who I can grow with over time and who will be a good doctor...

    Hi theMaverick,

There are websites to suggest how to find a doctor, like this one.
    How to Choose a Doctor

You might also want to check here, too. You might want to call a few offices with some basic questions to see how the office staff is because they can ruin it for you sometimes.

I think you have to decide if you prefer a male or a female doctor and then suss out if they're lgbt-friendly. Does yelp show this stuff? I guess you could check there, too. When you meet with the doc, you should have your "deal breaker" questions. Are all conditions treated with meds or are other solutions investigated? How readily are referrals made to specialists? What if requested by you? ...

On a personal note, I was inherited by my GP when my previous one moved away and found the new one a bit "meh" but over time, I've started to quite like/appreciate her "bedside manner". So there's something to think about, too.

As for male/female, that's completely up to you. Which ever you feel more comfortable with. Personally, I don't think I could ever see a male dr. (I'm female). Even to talk about personal things, I would be nervous with a male dr. But, that's just me.

Ask friends, see if they have any suggestions. Even someone saying "i hate my dr", you know not to go there. If you go to university/college, some have health clinics on campus. Also, I noticed a LGBTQ magazine we have here (I'm in Canada) had a list of lgbt-friendly lawyers, drs, realtors, etc.
