I've helped a lot of my friends with computer issues and it's embarrassing the amount of crap and clutter they let build up.

I have to clean and fix my mom and sister's computers just about every other month, even someone who works for my mom asked me to clean his laptop because he was overclocking it -_-

It blows my mind how difficult some people find it to say "no" when download prompts come up. That being said, I've found that sometimes stuff seems to find it's way on the computer anyways.

Same as FancyGummy, I find no matter how careful I am downloading stuff and how closely I read them and uncheck ANY optional downloads, I still occasionally get crap on it.

My dad couldn't figure out Windows 7, but he's fine with Windows 3.11 and still says to this day that he'd go back to 3.11 any day if he could. :rolle:

My uncle is always getting toolbars on his browsers. And I'm the one tasked with removing them. Waste of my time .

Luckily my parents aren't really tech savvy. Friend on the other hand...

Have this one "friend" (i use quotes, because he's not really a friend, more like, we went to school together and he kind of "clings" to me...), who... went on to "clean" his case, with a wet cloth, like... not the case itself... the actual boards and stuff.

Have another friend, who i actually do consider a close friend. So he's... sort of a... erhm, drug dealer. But it's okay, like... small stuff only and to friends only! I personally never partook. So he... got drunk one time and apparently spilled a bottle of vodka on his computer, and... it still worked. Then, sometime later, he purchased (on a whim) an expensive (like...really expensive) set of Logitech speakers and... hooked it up to that same old computer. The jacks on the back were, barely holding... and, then his speakers got fried.

Another friend, and this was some time ago... Decided to hook up 2x 3dfx cards, so he can play his F16 simulator (forgot the name) game without jagged edges (end game stuff here, NVIDIA just started releasing their Riva cards). And the idiot... i don't even know how he managed to do it, but he wired the cards in such a way that... basically, they were wired together and there was no slot for him to plug the monitor in, so he plugged it in the motherboard (which was this really weird motherboard by SiS) and... things went bad.

*thread* - I'm very, very, very, VERY! OCD about my computer/notebook, to the point where i actually measure the pixels when resizing windows... to make them all the same size. So i never install crapware, but... and i can say for sure that PC's don't degrade over time, as long as you remember to maintain them.

On a side note, phones tend to degrade rather quickly. My Note 3 goes from 1GB to 2GB in a day, and it's not like i'm even doing anything on it. Maybe i should put an app or something, to clear cache/memory. Ugh, why must life be so complicated...

Geez  That's a lot of toolbars! But I always clean my computer once a week, delete documents/applications that I don't use, and thus it runs just fine.

My goodness that picture was almost down-right frightening.
I've used cnet a good number of times, am I the only one who READS the download prompts? "Do you wish to download xvid?" Yes. "Do you wish to download wireshark?" Yes. "Do you wish to download our oh so lovely, very much needed, crap ridden toolbar that will make your life more difficult?" NO.

It used to make me laugh when I was younger that I would get the blame if something went wrong with our PC.

COULD NOT WAIT!! to buy my own..

The above picture proves my point :eusa_clap

My windows 7 laptop broke so my mother gave me her old Dell Inspiron 6400 until I've saved up enough to get a new laptop. She had about 100000000000000000000 toolbars installed on firefox...

Sometimes the easiest solution is to take the restore discs....

What about people who see ads for free cursors and download them?
