How about we just bury the aunt under the church? Problem solved.

What if it's an Indian burial ground, and she comes back, as some kind of Jesus Zombie?

Now that you mention it, that would be bad!

Also, now I'm thinking they need to make a movie about Jesus, as a Zombie. Or maybe other Bible characters as well: Zombie Moses, Zombie Noah, Zombie Virgin Mary. This film idea might be my ticket to riches. Also, they could spread Christianity by turning others into zombies. It almost writes itself.

    That's funny!

OK, sorry for sidetracking the thread. But sometimes it does help to laugh at your problems, I've found, as I get older.

I'm sorry that you've have to deal with her doing this. I'd say just stash them at a friend's house. It'd be hard enough to try to reason with her. If you do, then she might become more aware and catch on that you're trying to hide them somewhere. If you don't mention it, she might forget about it altogether.

"His Dark Materials" are actually pretty anti-Christian, but that doesn't make them evil, nor does it make them bad books. I liked them a lot. Like Mintberry Crunch said they're sort of diametrically opposed to "Chronicles of Narnia," which is fantasy with very very heavy Christian allegory. (And though I'm not Christian, I still enjoy Chronicles of Narnia too!)

It bothers me that people's faith is so fragile they can't seem to handle any opposing viewpoints. If you truly believe in something the foundation shouldn't be shaken so easily by a YA Novel.

Please remain respectful to not only the issue that the OP is facing but also of integral parts of cultural practices. Some of the statements are not particularly respectful.

I remember really enjoying the series when I was younger. I know Philip Pullman is a well known humanist but I don't remember it coming through in his books really

Either way your auntie is a bit bonkers

    Destroying books...a truly frightening development...

    A quote from Heinrich Heine:
