What makes you gay? (Homophobe edition)

"Are you lesbian because you had a bad experience with a guy?"

 

I tend to agree with Gandhi about how I feel about both jesus and Christians.

 

I get the typical, "it's a choice", thing frequently.

I've also been told that I'm possessed by a demon. And that I was sexually abused by my father (Which I was not...). Oh, and apparently Satan raped me when I was younger; that one I got over the internet.

Probably the most... "unique" one I've been told is that I'm gay because I've never had sex with a girl, and that if I did, it would immediately, "turn me straight". Well... my mother, who is very supportive of me, overheard that conversation... and... well... the other lady ended up walking away crying with a nice bright red hand print across her face about 5 minutes later when they finished... "talking"...

 

When I was outed and my mother was giving me one of her many scoldings during that time, she said, "Maybe it's the pneumonia I had when I was pregnant with you."
It was pretty hurtful at the time, still kinda is, though I realize how ridiculous it is.

And then the more common reasons from her: the amount of time I spent/spend on the internet, the city I grew up in (and society in general), and her troubled marriage with my dad.

 

There's this correlation (I think) that gay men became gay because of the absence of the father figure, whether actual or perceptual. I think that that kind of situation may contribute in a way, but not really to some great extent.

 

"I hung out with girls too much as a kid" that's what my Jehovah's witness friend said.

 

The TV channels are flooded with programs about ZOMBIES and WEREWOLVES. Are we really expecting the kind of minds that watch this crap to come up with logical reasons for why some people are gay?

I've just heard the typical "childhood trauma", "you couldn't find a guy who wanted you" etc "reasoning" from homophobes but I've also heard that people apparently "choose to be gay to get attention". Like excuse me, if I wanted attention I'm sure there would be easier ways that don't involve suffering verbal/physical abuse from the likes of you people O_O

 

Homophobe: You must have been abused or molested at a young age.
Me: I wasn't.
Homophobe: Well you probably don't remember it.
Me: I know my own life.
Homophobe: Well someone had to have done something traumatic to you at one point!
Me: ...

I love it when homophobes grasp at straws. Very pathetic and hilarious.

The few people to have reacted badly to my orientation used the "gays are demons/devils" arguement, to which l replied "yeah man we queers get these rad horns and wings and you don't get anything whaaaat"

 

Everyone in my school that is gay or bisexual pretty much has the same idea, we wake up one morning and decide we like the same sex. It annoys me to no end. They seriously believe it's a choice...

 

I've yet to meet the first homophobe who wants to have a serious conversation and isn't only in it for the insults.

My parents have the opinion, that my gay best friend makes me gay -.-

Homophobe: You're a prime example of this--you're 19 and claim to be attracted to the same sex. You must've been indoctrinated from a young age.
Me: Actually we never discussed homosexuality at school and I didn't know any homosexuals growing up.
Homophobe: So who told you it was normal or acceptable?
Me: My parents accepted me as soon as I told them.
Homophobe: They should've prayed for you.

I don't really know why I engage these people; I think I get some sick thrill out of it.

 

Surprised now one mentioned the "mommy issues" one! You had issues with your mom, so you dislike all women, hence you are gay :/

 

Let me assure you, demons have sooooooooo much more interesting stuff to talk about... Like seriously, why would they care about that? (¬‿¬)

As for the whole religious friend thing. Ask him what the "name" of his god is, then walk away while he stares with a blank expression... ( ¬_¬)

Good God, some of the responses in this thread are truly horrifying. I'm sorry (and intrigued) that some of you have had to put up with these comments.

Personally, I think I turned out gay because I listened to too much Phil Collins as a child :lol:
