And they have even made machines to open tight jars. What the hell are we here for?

You know what... this sounds like it might even work for me. Not that I want kids.

This is AMAZING, albeit HIGHLY unethical, in a way.
    But to hell with ethics!
Us pitiful humans do worse things on a daily basis, such as actually killing each other. This presents the amazing opportunity for lesbians to have their own children, to create life! <3

    ^ True that.
Although the scary part will be once they actually go for it. Seeing if it affects a human's development in any way. On paper everything sounds amazing - in reality? Quite frightening until proven to work!

Indeed! This is extremely dangerous, the DNA in sperm and egg cells is differently modified by molecules which determine if a gene is active or not. Get it modified wrong and you have really nasty genetic disorders. And there are also other factors like signalling molecules, which are vital in the correct development of the embryo. And possibly a load of other things which we don't know about.

Things like this like cloning have a really bad track record, so caution is important as you don't want many suffering babies and families.

I hope governments will make this illegal for humans as soon as possible, until there have been lots of animal tests with a wide variety of animals to make sure it's entirely safe. (If we think that this research is worth it).

That's just it, I'm not sure that it is worth it. As a scientist, I'm impressed that such things are becoming possible, but as mentioned, there are so many unknown factors. If this research was to cure a deadly disease, or improve the suffering of millions, then maybe. However, I'm not sure creating more babies when there are so many children requiring adoption, is such a good thing.

I've never heard of this until now. I will say I hate that they're testing it on animals because that's something I've very against! But as for the discovery itself, I think it would be great for two women to be able to have a baby together. I would love to be able to look at my wife one day and say let's have a baby and it look like both of us.

I heard about it before and I think it's amazing. I hope it will work. Many scientific experiments are dangerous to some extent, but without risk, there's no progress. I honestly think it's nature's big mistake that same sex couples are not able to have children together. It's about time someone finds a way to fix it.

This is exciting news, but until this kind if thing is proven safe, my future wife and I will be adopting a kid (or two).
