Why exactly do you want to believe in something? How do you feel about it? Do you think that "there must be something"? If so, ask yourself how this would work out for you.

If you want to pick a religion that fits your needs, then properly define what you are looking for. What you do accept and what you don't accept. You don't have to write it down here, but you may want to write it down for yourself.

When you know what you're looking for, it's easier to "find" the right religion that fits your needs. And remember that it's also possible to find no religion that fits your needs.

    Cheers and good luck! (*hug*)

I want to write it down here, and maybe I was looking for some spiritual acceptance.

Aha, I see. Perhaps it's interesting to note that you don't necessarily need a religion then. Some people I know are "just" spiritual. :icon_bigg Although I understand why you might prefer to find an accepting religion, as it makes it easier for you to identify with.

How has nobody mentioned Episcopalianism. It's all the fun parts of being Catholic without the soul crushing guilt.

I just choose to believe in a Higher Power, and I choose not to define this Power. I don't think chosing a religion is necessary to acknowledge that you want to believe in a Greater Power.

Buddhism, most pagan religions - Asatru, Wicca, Kemeticism, etc - Reform Judaism, Unitarian Universalism... I'm sure there are more, but I can think of them off the top of my head.

I personally think christianity is the most accepting religion in some respects. The original language of the bible never even condemned homosexuality and the bible was written incorrectly in English and ministers have inaccurately portrayed homosexuality as sinful. That is why I never go to church because a church does not represent God and makes christianity defined by a church. You cannot rely on a church or a minister to believe in a Christian God and you need to do the research yourself in order to find the truth. Sadly most people are raised in a church and hear false teachings which turn them away from christianity which is sad thing in today's society.

It really depends on the individual congregation.

The Metropolitan Community Church seems to be the most gay associated one around here, but others seem to be equally friendly.

I am a member of the Disciples of Christ denomination, and our official stance is in support of gay marriage, but it depends person to person. Mostly supportive. I'd have to say the most accepting is Quakers and Buddhism.

In terms of traditional denominations there are a lot of Anglican/Anglo-Catholic churches that wholly accept gay people/will have LGBT weddings in the church

A serious answer here, and from a long-term practicing Buddhist (I've read a fair bit about it) - Buddhism is completely non-homophobic. There is not even one homophobic statement ever spoken by the Buddha, in all the texts that have been passed down. Gay / lesbian marriage not a problem either.
