How old should you be to...

I've been doing it since I was a baby according to my mother. And I can only remember back to when I was 3 but I can't remember a time when I wasn't able to masturbate to orgasm, I was actually surprised when I got older and heard about people who'd never had one yet because I couldn't imagine not knowing how.

In terms of the porn I think the difficulty is more with what TYPE of porn the person happens to discover. If a kid of a certain age with little sexual knowledge or personal experience watches some standard porn that you generally see with intercourse between two consenting adults then it probably isn't all that damaging. The danger is when they stumble onto darker stuff and then mistakenly think this is something that everyone does. But that would be less of a problem if there was better education form parents and schools to help them understand the difference.

 

Right, well I understand that part. I'm aware of a growing body of data showing that frequent porn viewing is at least correlated with early onset of erectile dysfunction. Though I am not sure the State needs to step in and criminalize porn viewing as a way of dealing with this problem.

2) Whatever age you are when you explore the area between your legs for the first time.

 

Well, not trying to sound like a whore or a pervert, but I've TRIED both. Masturbation because of puberty. Porn because I'm a teenage boy at heart. :lol: True story though.

 

1: I think at least 16.. My cousin's daughter is only 7 and her friends were already talking about sex and so my cousin's daughter searched it on the net on an iPad and watched something she wasn't supposed to see. She won't tell her mum the details, just that it was naughty.. I certainly don't think any one under the age of 16 is mature enough to watch it.

2: I guess whatever age you feel comfortable with doing it.. I started at about 14 or 15 perhaps, but didn't start watching porn till I was well into my 20's.

 

1. Whatever age really, but if you're underage make sure to clear your cookies and browsing history.
2. The moment you find out what masturbation is in a school playground, and pester your parents or older siblings about it.

 

I didn't learn about masturbation on the playground... I learned it when I was like 12, and I just happened to rub myself in bed. Crazy feeling...

 

1: when you can look at it realistically as something that it's a show and doesn't reflect a typical sexual relationship. And that people who do not star in porn generally don't look or act that way.

2: even a fetus masturbates, it's been proven on film. Therefore, people should wank at whatever age they damn well please, because there's a good chance they've done it already.
Besides, it's good for you.

Porn- It doesn't really matter since kids are going to find it no matter what.
Masturbation- Any age.

I don't know much about porn, but I know that babies and young children masturbate as a way to explore their bodies. Should we arrest babies and young children? HELL NO.

I didn't even know what the word "masturbate" meant until just a few years ago, and I assumed it was something only men could do (thanks, patriarchy). Some parents expect their children to be celibate until marriage, yet discourage masturbation (how the hell else are teens going to realive sexual tension?).

I know porn viewing can give people an unhealthy expectation of perfection, and can morph into addiction, but neither are good reasons to arrest someone.

And as a reply to the last bit, yes of course that is true! From experience (hope im not being too open here) that after depending on porn for a week a masturbation session without it is difficult... But then after a few days it gets easier and far more pleasurable that with porn.... But then I crave porn... :lol:

 

With regards to both of them, I believe people discover these and may do it from any adolescent age (13 and up).
whether it is right or not to start from a young age is debatable

 

I think that masturbation happens when each individual is ready.

I am not so sure their is a right age for watching porn, my main concern and ideal would be that the person finds the type of porn that they need at their stage in their development that can give them the info or the excitement that they seek.
I guess when I realised my daughters first experience of porn (aged 15) was of watching a woman and an animal and then some very well endowed men with one woman at the same time I wished she hadn't seen sex in that way. I completely respect peoples choices but I do believe its a gradual journey of exploration and so to have this as a starting example wasn't ideal and I am not sure what message she took away from it.

 

Masturbation is a normal, healthy activity provided it is done in private. Some parents have seen babies masturbate, and I don't think it's wrong for children to explore their bodies.

I don't think porn is appropriate for anyone under what the law states. In most places, that would be 18.

2: It's been proven to be healthy, and it's completely natural. A kid should be able to masturbate at any age, as long as he doesn't accidentally pull his honk-a-donkin' off.

 

1) Umm. Whenever they can understand what is going on, I guess. I don't really understand why a criminal law exists prohibiting it. I mean, how is the government going to know? Parents are more likely the only ones to care. I've never read any account of a horny teenager being arrested for watching porn.
