I've turned 23 today and to be honest I can't really seem to care much seeing as it is mostly a day you become a year older and often I do get bewildered when people go all out to have a birthday celebration with presents and stuff but as for me, I've been going about most of the day doing work and reading books etc. Not sure if that's supposed to be a normal feeling or something

First of all, Happy Birthday! and I do get what you mean. I think as we grow older we don't really seem to care anymore and I feel the same way with Christmas like I'm already happy if I get a new pair of socks.

Happy Birthday and that's exactly how I feel on my birthday . I'm just happy that God lets me live that long to begin with .

    Happy Birthday!

You spent the day the way you wanted to spend it, and that's cool. It's normal. The way you spent your birthday, sounds pretty much like my cup of tea. I'd do something pretty similar.

It depends on the people I guess. Many people just like an excuse to go out with friends and get presents. It's really only as special a day as the person makes it. There's nothing wrong with spending it the way you did

    That said, happy birthday.

it's your birthday...you celebrate it how you want...if that's curling up with a book...or doing nothing then that's fine...who says it's normal to want to go out and get blazing drunk on your birthday anyway...
Happy Birthday and enjoy the rest of your day...as you want x

    Happy Birthday!! (*hug*)

Everyone likes spending their birthdays in different ways. You can spend your birthday however you want to

Also, what you're feeling is actually normal

The older you get, the less important your current exact age is.
    Enjoy the day anyway

I totally know what you mean. I find that the older I get, the less my birthday seems like a special occasion and more just an ordinary day. That's one aspect of being a kid I miss, is how magical birthdays and holidays always seemed.

I feel the same way about my birthdays. It's just another day. I go out and have a nice meal to celebrate, but that's it.

Yeah, I know how you feel. I spent my eighteenth birthday cleaning out my grandmother's loft because she was moving house lol.

    Happy birthday.

I never really do anything memorable on my birthday either. I forget it, everyone else forgets it, and it just passes like any other day. Sometimes I would rather it be forgotten.
Though how you spend your days is entirely up to you, just enjoy them

I found for me too, as I get older birthdays mean less and less. There are the big milestones for us U.S. Citizens (which I see you are not, you must have your own though)

The last one was 25 - cheaper car insurance!
The next one for me is 60 - it's when I'm going to retire. Hoping my 401k/IRA keeps growing at its current rate. Only 32 more years

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone and glad i'm not alone in this :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Probably when i'm 80, then I will start to really cherish birthdays as a reminder of the number of years I have left
