yes its later. depending on the place you live in, start is in third or fifth grade.
There are also some experimental schools where it starts earlier.

It is said that usually you pick up a language easier if you're younger.

Yeah, we have a midsummer celebration... but not a fire. We a midsommarstång(like a pole decorated with branches, leaves, flowers etc.)(please google this and you'll see a picture of that insane creation), then the ones who are older than 18 years old get drunk and we all start to dance like frogs.

Yeah, I celebrated it, but for the most part I read.

Ah ok I google it...

I saw this in a movie... inga lindström ... people dancing to old tunes, some even wearing traditional costumes...

in germany there is a huge heap of wood, people gather around it, you can get something to eat and to drink, and before its night, the wood is set on fire. its a huge fire, over 10 m high, and people usually have to get way back because it gets soon really warm.

I was not able to participate this year, but last year. i like the fire, its nice to sit there in the warmth and watch the flames and dream a bit

I see, we have a fire when we celebrate the 30th of Apr. When I was in Dömitz on the 30th of Apr, they had decorated a tree.
