    I'm only going to say one :

    Dream Theater - Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory.

    I would rate many more albums as 10/10 but if I put them against Metropolis Pt. 2 it just doesn't seem as good so that's the only perfect concept album for me.

    I agree with like 90% of what has already been listed, so I won't create my own, but Im glad to see that we have a great sense of music!

    For convenience am leaving it to non-classical and off that note, going to seem like a paltry list as I'm still trying to expand my non-classical tastes...

    For Emma, Forever Ago - Bon Iver
    Bon Iver, Bon Iver - Bon Iver
    Let England Shake - P J Harvey
    Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division
    High Violet - The National
    In the Aeroplane over the Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel
    Airbag / How Am I Driving? - Radiohead
    Hail to the Thief - Radiohead
    In Rainbows - Radiohead
    ( ) - Sigur Rós
    The Smiths - The Smiths
    The Queen Is Dead - The Smiths

    Could maybe include some more but there are various albums which I need to revisit and/or haven't heard in a long time.

    I just finished listening to Rid of Me by Pj Harvey and it's one of the most abrasive album I've ever heard.

    As of recent, would probably add this to my list:

    The Coroner's Gambit - the Mountain Goats

  11. Miles16

    Miles16 Guest

    Speaking of the Smiths, I'll add Hatful of Hollow to my list. More of a compilation album than a bona fide 'studio album,' but it flows and coheres so well musically and thematically over its four sides that it's actually better than any of their four albums. HoH features half of the self-titled's songs in superior rerecorded versions, along with some more of the very best songs the band ever did. I don't consider myself a huge Smiths fan, but HoH has taken up a surprisingly large proportion of my listening time over the past couple of years.

    Wouldn't consider it my very favorite, though it comes close, agree it's a fine album. Generally have been wary of 'compilation' albums but liked how Hollow is a good mix of non-LP material [if that term makes sense...] along with significantly different versions of LP songs, like you mentioned. Very few songs on there which I felt neutral about. :astonished:

    I'm seeing some Floyd here, that's good.

    My 3 favorite Pink Floyd albums are as follows:

    1. The Wall (easily)
    2. Dark Side of the Moon (I don't know why nobody's mentioned this one, yet)
    3. Pulse

    In my opinion, Pink Floyd were true masters at putting together an album as a whole, and then definitely put on amazing, hypnotizing live performances. I haven't heard Division Bell yet, but I'm excited for their new one coming out. I'm also seeing Animals on some people's favorites lists, so I'll check that one out as well.

    The rest of the albums that are just about as good are:

    Who's Next - The Who
    Who Are You - The Who (probably their most underrated album)
    Quadrophenia - The Who

    Moving Pictures - Rush
    Permanent Waves - Rush
    2112 - Rush
    Clockwork Angels - Rush

    Esc4p3 - Journey

    There are a lot of good albums out there, but I honestly think those are the ones I could listen to on loop forever, and not really worry about being annoyed or bored with the music.

    * King Crimson - Indiscipline
    * King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King

    * Opeth - Still Life
    * Pink Floyd - Animals
    * Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon
    * Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
    * Porcupine Tree - Fear Of A Blank Planet

    Also adding:

    Modern Times - Bob Dylan

    Realise this is an odd choice, at least from among all his albums I've heard so far, but it's grown on me quite a bit in the last week or so and feel I could listen to it at any given moment.
