Why? They're not endangered in the slightest. They're the elk and deer of South-East Australia; they get hit by cars all the time, and have enormous populations thanks to the changes coming from new agriculture and water systems in the last century.

I'm vegan, so I don't think any meat tastes good.

It's very strong, bland, and dark. It's like a less pleasant reindeer meat, if you've ever eaten that.

Both of my places have oatcakes, but the Scottish one is like a biscuit and the Derbyshire one is basically an oatmeal pancake. Yeah.

Well, since the chili was already mentioned. I'll bring up goetta. It's a... German (inspired)... sausage... thing? It's hard to explain. It has oatmeal in like scrapple, except unlike scrapple, it tastes good.

I swear if I visited the UK I would want to live there. That sounds divine.

Fish and chips? Tea and crumpets?

I would like to try that. I always loved driving through Cincy on our trips down south. I love the rolling hills, then the mountains in Covington, KY. If it weren't for that traffic, I'd move there in a heartbeat. Great city, now the rest of Ohio....:rolle:

Also you have given us the gift that is Graeter's, for which I am eternally grateful.

In Maryland: Blue Crabs, and also crab-cakes.

A traditional Maryland summer delicacy would be steamed crabs in Old Bay seasoning in the shell, corn on the cob, served on newspapers, spread out on a picnic table, because it's so messy. Cheap, ice cold beer is the typical drink that accompanies this.
