As I see more and more stories like this I'm starting to wonder if the continued foot shooting by the Republicans is actually the result of insider skullduggery by the Democrats.

 

Yeah, compared to many fellow Republicans, he absolutely is.

If democrats in Texas actually turned out to vote, Wendy Davis will be their next governor, and Texas will be blue by 2024.

 

I hope gay marriage goes into effect in Texas, and soon, by court order.

I wonder if they;'ll try to do things to resist, as happened with school segregation. Not just in Texas, but other states as well. Will they follow court orders, or try to put up a potentially violent fight?

 

It makes me sad that McCain can be considered moderate.

 

I suppose it depends what part of the state you're in. If I were going to get married to a guy and Texas was forced to perform same-sex marriages, I'd feel pretty safe going to my city's courthouse to get married because most cities are pretty OK with the issue. If I lived in a small town, I'd probably want to get the marriage in a bigger county because I feel smaller communities are where most backlashes would occur, even if it's a snicker from the clerk as they hand over the marriage license.

Here are other crazy tidbits within the platform.

1. Abolish the Environmental Protection Agency.
2. Abolish the Dept. of Education.
3. Support for "reparative therapy for those wishing to exit the homosexual lifestyle" ("homosexual" was also considered to be swapped for "sexually deviant").
4. Abolish all minimum wage laws.
5. Get rid of the "myth of separation of church and state".
6. Ban the "morning after" pill.
7. Full withdrawal from the United Nations because of Agenda 21 (A21 is a NONBINDING resolution from 1992 where, paraphrasing, they say "let's not destroy everything on the planet.") as it is a plot for "one world government".
8. FULL repeal of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.
9. FULL repeal of the 17th Amendment of the US Constitution (Direct election of United States Senators), and bring back the old system of the state houses electing senators.
10. Defund ACORN (Which has not existed since 2010)

Even if you are a Texan Conservative, the GOP has turned way too extreme for you. Do not vote for them, because they will wreck your state, and quite possibly wreck the country.

The Republican party is a hazard to society, literally. I don't know how someone could possibly defend voting for them, even if they call themselves "conservative".

 

If you have a GOP or GOP leaning friend in exas, I'd recommend
A) Telling them to vote Democrat
B) If that fails, get them to vote Libertarian or Constitution
