What things about the modern world would you take for granted or would find difficult to live without? This can't be technology itself (computers, phones, internet etc) but it could be things facilitated by technology, such as fast food, transport, or the easy availability of information. Me, I think I'd struggle without books, hormones and surgery for transition, and electric light.
Depends. I'm more attached to toilet paper than the toilet itself. Much worse than shitting behind a tree is to walk away with a shitty ass. But in a city, I can certainly see how important they are.
Healthcare, including antibiotics and other medications. Cars and trucks. Interstate and international transport of produce. Modern beds. Safe, potable running water. Air conditioning (seriously, without it, Texas would be nearly empty :lol. Empty Closets. Efficient postal service. Washer and dryer (I do handwash delicates but it'd be a pain to handwash everything I wear).
lol I agree with alot of what is already here.. 1. Central Air/Heat 2. Roads 3. Toilets and TP 4. Cleansing products (household/bodily) 5. Glasses 6. Books 7. Mirrors.... eh, pretty much everything.
Air Conditioning Transportation Lighting Fast Food (DEAR GOD NOT THE FAST FOOD) Decent Food (Imagine trying to heat your fire up to 475 degrees without a gauge.. Medicines Yea I'ma have to go and say that I would die without muh technology.
Having been homeless for a period of time, I believe it is possible to survive without all of this, but I'm sympathetic to those who mentioned air conditioning. I'm a hot natured person, so I'm usually always hot, and the air condition is a marvelous blessing. Books may not exist, but what about scrolls? LOL. Medication also. Especially in terms of dental work. My tooth extractions... I dare not think about more about how that'd have gone, haha. Bonus points to you Slothus, for the mentioning of toothpaste. Yuck mouth is a terrible thing to endure!
- Plumbing. God help you if you're camping and food poisoning strikes. - Coffee shop on every block? Favorite shop closed and you've got caffeine withdrawal? No problem. Walk a block and there's Starbucks. - Cheap convenience food. It'll suck your soul just standing in the cheese puff isle at the 7-11 but when you're driving for 6 hours and you're stuck in a sad excuse for a town where 7-11 is the only excuse for that town's economy, you'll be thankful for those Styrofoam cheese flavored science experiments. And you'll savor them because you were an idiot and you listened to Apple Maps on your way to the nearest city. - Television. Where would we be without the babysitter? - Health care and doctors. Someone's gotta look at the warts on your junk. - Condoms. Instant balloons. - Hormones and surgeries. Of course. - Clothing stores. I can't sew worth shit. No one wants to look at my naked ass besides the doctor I'm paying. Clothing stores, for many of us, are a public service. - Air conditioning. Because some people are insane enough to live in Florida.
HEY! I take offense to that! D: No but seriously it's hard to avoid swamp-ass here. I love it in my room with the fan running and the AC blasting.
Enjoy them while they last... >.> As for me, off the top of my head I think refrigerators are pretty neat. So are dishwashers.
