I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually starting to like referring to myself as "gay". I mean, not publicly or to people, but to myself. I'm somewhat comfortable telling myself that I'm gay, and also referring to myself as gay to my sister (the only person I came out to). Just on Saturday when I came out to her, I couldn't even say the word "gay" with myself in the same sentence. I would cringe and be grossed out. Now, I am able to say that I'm gay to her, and I even feel comfortable talking about attractive guys with her.

Have any of you had a similar experience in your "coming out journey"?

It sure is! I never thought I'd like it... I always thought I'd be a self-hating gay, even to myself. WOW! Have I come a long way in such a short period of time!

Yes, it took about a year to where I could say to myself audibly, "I am bisexual."

Saying it to my self audibly is still a little weird. Saying it to my sister however isn't... Looks like I'm still working on being 100% comfortable with my sexuality! but hey, I'm a work in progress!

It feels pretty liberating to be able to utter the words; "I am gay", to other people. For like the first month or so I could not imagine me verbally telling another that I am gay. It feels good to do so and talk about cute guys around my gal pals and my friends who are gay

Sometimes, when alone, I'll utter "I'm gay." It's so strong and weird. I still have trouble saying "I'm gay" to someone else because I even tremble a bit (based on the few people I've told). It's easier for me to say, "I like guys."

I oddly feel more comfortable saying I like dicks then I do saying I'm gay.

And sometimes that is actually easier. Before tonight, the person that I came out to last had to text me to ask if I was gay or not because I could not have the words leave my mouth (for some reason) and so I could just say yes which is WAYY easier.

It's even better when you feel comfortable referring to a guy as "my boyfriend"!

It was and still is a really satisfying feeling. I've been completely out for about three weeks and I just feel so free

I'm glad you feel comfortable with calling yourself "gay". I wish you the best in the future

It's happening to me too. And I'm happy about it, well first of all because I'll never end up with an unwanted child  and second because other people won't experience things the way I can. I'm finally starting to like who I am in general. I still can't really look at my reflection in mirrors though.

That's awesome. I'm not completely out, but just being out to myself and to my sister feels amazing!

I wish you the best as well!

Reading this makes me smile so much. When I look back at your postings from a couple of weeks ago, I saw a man with so much inner conflict, doubt and personal shame and now look at you.. liking your gay identity. Long may it continue. :icon_bigg
