    Doris Day.

She's had a rough life, been treated badly by "the industry" and yet she always shows her brightness and sunshine in her acting and singing......she never let it get in the way of her professionalism.

And she never, ever, ever.......not even once, played a dumb blond!

I don't have heros, there are people I admire though, like Greg Graffin, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Jennifer Lawrence.

I don't have any, if I respect someone for their skill I'd rather make a rival out of them rather than a hero.

"Hero" may be a strong word to use, but there are certain individuals that, more or less, have earned my curiosity and admiration.

But the one whom comes closest to such a level is:

Hannibal Barca of Carthage fascinates me, for many reasons. I could write an essay on this man, but nobody wants to read that, so I'll say this:

His leadership is most impressive. His ability to maintain control over a rag-tag band of mercenaries, who outnumbered his actual forces in his army, is remarkable. His intellect and sense of strategy, amazing. His tactics and means to persevere, even when deep in enemy territory, for years, is nothing short of miraculous.

To make the Romans taste defeat, and to know fear, is a notable feat. And he did this, again, with mercenaries who had no real sense of loyalty, and within Roman lands, far away from the shores of North Africa.

What is amusingly tragic is, he was practically incapable of being beaten. No matter the formations or the leaders, they were crushed and humiliated. It wasn't until the Romans realized, their tactics would not work, so what do they do?

They use Hannibal's -- and that is what beats him.

I don't know whether I'd be honored or infuriated, if that is how I lost. Still, it does say something about you.
